I'm running a personal image campaign locally as well. I'm letting my Mom manage it for me since she's always told me how awesome I am. I think I'm pretty good hands.

/I have to mow the lawn all next summer though as payment

Guy spends his own money on the campaign, and doesn't take a salary?

What a monster.

It will probably save him money in campaign season.

I read that as $56.4 Million

He's an ego maniac. He's so full of being mayor of NY that he thinks his jurisdiction extends to Arizona.

Asswipe.

The new York post should really rethink their redirect page advertising their iPad app, there is no way to get to the article on an iPad without the app.

Also his daughter is hot.

He's worth something like $4 billion. Subby could have just said that.

Yeah, and who would have thought that a mega-rich white dude would feel the need to proactively protect his image in an economic climate that spawned OWS? Inconceivable.

I'm so glad that all that money went on posters and shiat instead of to a homeless shelter or something pointless like that.

2011-11-06 07:14:41 AM
Not only did he spend millions to polish his image, he spent it with one of the largest political PR firms in existence. Why not hire some of the unemployed PR folks? He's just giving more money to the already rich.

Exactly. Every time he opens his mouth lately his image suffers more and more.

/Still not as bad as Ed Koch, though.

Public image, huh? Maybe if we, the public, weren't such dribbling morons he could have spent that money on medical care for disabled children and we would respect him even more. But no, we respect gold-plated toilets, so we get the shiate we deserve. Shiate just like this.

Gun control freak.

Just remember this gun control people: it's a helluva lot easier to control people if you have guns and they don't..

An interesting part of our heritage which people don't seem to talk about is the unanimous agreement among our forefathers that liberty and freedom must be continually re-won through force of arms.

And all signs seem to be pointing towards that time coming soon. The 1% has taken a bit too much, and they don't seem too interested in playing fair at this point. This is where coercion comes in btw.

I'm sure the salary is a tiny part of what he can make from the office.

He is a plutocrat plan and simple. If people had paid attention in US history we might not have gotten into this whole mess again. You know what they say those that that learn history are bound to repeat it.

He's donated $25k to candidates here in VA.

I really think their ought to be a law that says you can only donate to candidates you can actually cast a vote for. I can't influence elections in NY, what right does he have to come down here and influence mine.

As soon as I read the Fark headline, before I even opened up this thread, I was thinking "That money was spent on damage control."

I would vote him in for a 4 th term if he wanted. much better than some money grabbing asshole politician. NY should be glad to have him.

You had me until the second to last line. Those so called "99%'ers" and their government enablers ARE the problem. Not some rich guy who earned what he has by playing by the rules, which the rich don't set. The rich may have paid for the rules but guess what, if those rules weren't for sale by the government to begin with they couldn't have bought them. Get the government out of picking winners and losers and let the marketplace do it.

That said, Bloomberg is someone everyone can hate with equal gusto. He's rich so the OWS people can hate him, and he's the ultimate symbol (even moreso then Obama) of "The government knows whats best for you peasants. STFU and OBEY YOUR BETTERS" so the rest of America can hate him too.

Being rich does not make you inherently evil. And being poor definitely doesn't make you inherently good. In fact, I'd say that poor people have a higher percentage of any vice than rich people. The key difference is that Republicans have most of the middle class - in the absence of a TRULY conservative party, anyway - and a nation's success is pretty much dependent on doing what the middle class wants, since the middle class is what actually produces and innovates. Eliminate it, and it comes down to the poor looting from the rich and then blowing the money on useless crap.

I got a bullshiat parking ticket today on West 43rd St., so I am really getting a kick...

Maybe I should have called it #OccupyAParkingSpaceISureAsShiatDontSeeASignSaysICant and I could've left my car there for six weeks.

SharkTrager: I always wonder about people who spend a fortune to get and hold a job that pays a relative pittance.

I think Bloomberg just wanted to see if he could run a city like he did his billion dollar empire. When he took office he asked for a salary of $1 per year, because he wasn't allowed to work for free.
