As opposed to? A 19 yr old is an adult and an adult female is a woman so...yeah. You would prefer it read a 19 yr old girl or 19 yr old child?

I guess we can assume, even without a picture, that she's hot.

People would be surprised what they can do when fight or flight kicks in. I used to think I'd be the flight type, but shortly after my mother died I heard loud banging in the house (another story for another time, unless interested) and I was fully convinced someone had broken in. What do I do? Grab my sword and check the house. If someone really had broken in they would've shiat bricks seeing someone run after them with a katana.

So her parents....her MOTHER and FATHER, left her there while they sought safety. It took a complete stranger to save her. Kinda sad.

They should let the.hero have the child. How do run out of your house and leave your child there you dumb whore.

I hate stumbling upon fire myself as well.

Wow. Angry much?

In the chaos, perhaps they thought they all got out and then realized they didn't. Or perhaps her parents were older and not in good health and needed to get someone capable of pulling her out to do just that.

Southrules and Hawk Ptuey, going through life this angry really isn't worth it.

they thought she was this

now they have to save face with the public, while working on a plan to flee her wrath when she wakes up.

Or they're related to the woman who left a kid at Chuck E. Cheese this week, and didn't bother to call anyone to tell them her kid was missing when she got home. Either, or.

Shame they had to change the ending in the movie because of the morality police.

Not angry, my friend. This just jumped out at me when I read the story. I have 2 daughters.

If someone comes after me with a katana, the only thing I'm dying from is laughter.

Unless you've like, secretly trained in the mountains of Japan since you were like 2 weeks old, the best outcome is you're gonna get is shot by the guy robbing you. But you're probably a white bread motherfarker like me, who just loved beating the shiat out of the other kids in the suburb with your toy lightsaber, not a hella trained ninja turtle.

I'm going to go with my gut and say the parents were probably in shock and couldn't mentally encompass the entirety of what was going on nor the proper way to react iow running around like a 5 year old with his ass on fire. Raise your hands if you've woken up in a burning house.... Thats what I thought. We have no right to judge them.
The rescuer deserves medals and 72 virgins here on earth. This story almost restores my faith in the inherent goodness of man.

When I was 18, literally 2 months after getting my 1st apartment, it caught fire. I was playing CS 1.6 with headphones on. Barely heard the alarms. My neighbors apt closet was engulfed, smoke everywhere. Everyone ran out. I stayed in with 1 other guy banging on every door making sure everyone got out. I found a pregnant woman too scared to walk down the stairs alone. I walked her out and let her sit in my heated car (Feb) until it literally ran out of gas. Moral of the story: Young people are stupid, not heroic. I should've left with everyone else and leave the fate of mommy and baby to our town's shiatty emergency response time.

But you did and the 18yr old you WAS a hero whether it was the right thing to do or not. Lets ask the pregnant woman.

I can't believe I'm saying this, but its not that young people are stupid, they just haven't become callous and hateful towards others yet due to years of being treated like shiat and abused by the ones who say they love us. They are naiive and it is sad what is to come.

As a parent, I agree with you. As a firefighter, I can tell you that people don't really know what they will or won't do when faced with a pitch black, smoke filled burning building.

It ain't like the movies, and some people can't overcome their fear no matter the potential loss.

Alternately, the daughter may have been out for the night when mom & dad went to bed and they didn't realize she'd come home until after they'd left the burning house.

So she's 19 and he's 21, and he saved her from a burning building?

I'm reasonably sure that the code calls for her to put out now.

Wait...you mean Backdraft wasn't a true reflection of firefighting? I mean, there really isn't smoke inside the building because it's all outside the building, right?

/sarcasm is a wonderful thing

Wow. I don't think I'd ever talk to my parents again if they left me inside a burning house.

Outlaw Thirds: Wow. I don't think I'd ever talk to my parents again if they left me inside a burning house.

I'd agree, 'cept she was 19. There's a certain point at which the parent-child dynamic in case of fire shifts from "I would die to get you out alive" to "We're both capable of getting out ourselves, let's not risk our lives searching for one another". I could be wrong, but I'd wager that point is before one turns 19 (albeit not by much).

Sure will make for some awkward moments, though, because really, she did abandon her daughter in a burning building.

Also, this:

Moonfisher: So she's 19 and he's 21, and he saved her from a burning building?

I'm reasonably sure that the code calls for her to put out now.

Running up on someone with a very long pointy piece of metal when they least expect it would catch these crackheads off guard. They wouldn't have time to shoot if they even had a gun. Plus if you did start laughing you'd just get stabbed in the gut whilst doing so.
