Seems pretty clear to me that the caddie is a humongous asshole. They guy has made upwards of 10 million dollars simply carrying around Tiger's bag, because he gets paid a set percentage of purse money. He became famous and rich for no other reason than he had the good fortune to be on the bag of the most dominant golfer in the world.

And THIS is how he repays Tiger? By repeatedly shiatting all over him when Tiger runs into a low point in his life? What a piece of shiat. I don't even care about the racial stuff - the fact that you would talk ANY shiat about someone who gave you $10M to carry around a golf bag makes you a giant dick.

The interesting part is that I cannot help but wonder if he mentioned that to play to the crowd, or if he avoided something else in order to not piss of the crowd. Considering the location, I have a feeling Williams's comment would have had a much colder reception had he focused on Tiger's other racial ancestry, unless he went nation-specific (I don't know too much about the political dynamics of that part of the world, and whether a joke in Shanhai would be similar to a joke in the US, where people always mock "smaller" nearby states, cities, or countries).

It's not necessary. But to me, racist would be if he called Tiger an asshole because he is black. Golf is full of assholes and 99% of them are white. I just see this as stupid rather than racist, especially considering how long he and Tiger worked together.

For all of the people biatching about the caddie being ungrateful: a caddie is a factor in how successful a golfer is, just ask any professional golfer. Beyond that, let's say you work for someone who is very successful and you get a % of their total earnings. You make good money over the term of your employment, but at the end of the day your boss is an asshole. Does the fact that you made good money from them change the fact they are an asshole?

Beyond all of that this is a guy who stuck with Woods while he wasn't playing well and not playing that often. He could have jumped ship and picked up with someone who was going to compete and didn't drag his name through the mud (guilt by association did happen when Tiger's scandals broke). He was loyal and stuck with Woods when many were distancing themselves from him.

That said, I'd love to see how his firing from Tiger's side went down. When the scandal(s) broke, It sure sure seemed like Steve was Tiger's only friend through all of that. I can understand Tiger wanting a clean break from everything and start on a fresh slate, and perhaps Steve being right there would only serve to remind him of the times he needs to forget about and move on from, but to dispatch someone who was so loyal to you requires a delicate approach that I'm assuming Tiger didn't use.
