What? I'm forced to assume this is a reference to something I'm unfamiliar with because it doesn't appear to have any relevance to either the story or the film it appears to be drawn from.

Some people don't understand the concepts of liability and doctrines of when to use lethal force(and why).

Did anyone watch the video where the robber shot himself in the head? I guess he saved the police the trouble.

The person pulling up in the mini van just as the police arrived must have been thinking "Well, we're finding another hotel tonight".

A few years back I had a friend ask me to hold up a piece of paper, standard copier paper, four inches in front of my face so he could show me a trick.

I'm 6'6", he's 5'7" or 5'8". As soon as I had the paper in front of my face, he put a hole through it with his toes, and did not touch my face. I want him on my side if we ever get in a fight.

I'm guessing nothing at all happened during that time, so the LAPD edited it out. I wish they had cut more -- that was the least interesting beatdown video I've ever seen.

I'm glad that the guy was caught and that nobody was injured. But attacking a guy with a gun while you're unarmed is just stupid. They're just lucky that the guy wasn't crazy enough to actually use it. Get trained in self-defense -- great idea. Know when to use it though.

just passing through: But attacking a guy with a gun while you're unarmed is just stupid.

not at all. as soon as someone pulls out a weapon you take them out ASAP, don't even give them time to use the weapon, and don't even give them time to contemplate the severity of what they just did.

just passing through: Get trained in self-defense -- great idea. Know when to use it though.

Yeah, because martial arts aren't about self defense they're about picking on poor, defenseless kids for fun and/or profit.

From what I can tell they have the gun hand immobilized before the guy notices them.

(When possible, of course, situation permitting, etc. being 25' away is different than when the perp is standing right in front of you with their back turned, this doesn't apply to pigs, etc.)

Guys gave an in-depth interview on KFI last night, edited footage is them waiting for the LAPD to show up(good to know...if you're a robber) The guys roomkey didn't work & when they got to the lobby they walked in on the nightclerk deciding to fight the robber...and he was losing. So he was screaming "help me, help me!" & the gun(loaded 9mm) was getting pointed @ them THAT'S when they jumped in. They said they were p.o.'d @ one customer who got off the elevator when they were subduing the robber. And when THAT guy saw what was going on he didn't help, he turned around & left. The worst part is the Comfort Inn didn't even comp their room!

THIS

They should have beat that dude senseless once they had him down. Pieces of crap like that deserve a beating. Maybe if we actually punished criminals, instead of coddling them by giving them free food and housing, we would have a bit less crime.

Ima4nic8or: Maybe if we actually punished criminals, instead of coddling them by giving them free food and housing, we would have a bit less crime.

Punishments aren't a very good way to modify behavior. In fact, they may be the worst way as they seldom work correctly and often turn the individual against the punisher. It's something to think about before saying "the punishment is too weak." Punishment-based parenting has a really bad track record as well. Watch what happens to kids once the punishment sources are out of their lives for a while. You get much better results by praising the good behavior of other individuals in front of the misbehaving one. Make them jealous. It works much better than making them angry.

It's a painfully easy manipulation trick that won't even raise your blood pressure.

I took three decades of martial arts. I was second alternate for the US Olympic Jinjitsu team. Then I turned forty, realized that I wasn't that fast any more, and I bought a gun. I wish I'd just of bought the gun three decades ago instead of screwing around with all that stupid crap. Trust me, a piece of polished steel will prevent many more fights than a solid stance. So, if you're a kid or a young guy reading this, go out and buy a gun. It's worth the trouble.

In the video, I see the clerk comfortably taking the would-be robber from behind. He was using the Spoon Master technique.

It must have been quite disconcerting to have a man behind you with his penis forcibly up against your butt.

I would have tapped out there and then.

Credit to the perp for not submitting so easily. I see a UFC contract when he gets out in 10 years.
