By real life, subby means toys. I was expecting the US Navy's rail gun or some cool farking lasers, not a Zelda sword made out of plastic.

-1 internets for subby.

For a "Tech Blog" that was disappointingly lacking in technology.

The above.

Also, no BFG. Lame.

Oh, yes it is. How many turrets do you disable with it? How easily could you kill someone with a well placed portal?

Article is fail in text, so fail that it was by 'staff'. That's right the writer couldn't even put their own name on it.

I googled "video game weapons" and already found a far cooler one then those silly little toys.

Good thing that was only a fence (though it looked like a pallet standing on end)

If he was against a gazebo he'd have been toast.

It's a tool with some extra features then. You can kill someone with a cordless drill, but it's not a weapon.
To me, weapon would indicate it's primary function is to main/kill.

That list is complete and utter crap with M41-A. It's a fully-auto submachine gun with a working, three shot Remington shotgun below it. I've held it. It actually shoots. The bullet counter works. It's absolutely bad ass.

The stuff on that list are props. Nothing has been "brought to life".

Fail.

Arguably it's primary function is to kill test subjects, or at least let them kill themselves.

Does it give me a digital read out of rounds left?

Subby fail. Editor fail. Writer fail.

A menage a fail.

(hell, it was approved. So, admin fail.)

A fail(tale) four way.

INeedAName: Does it give me a digital read out of rounds left?

It does indeed. There's a leaf switch in the back of the upper receiver and one near the mag well. When the mag switch is closed, the counter sets itself to 50 (he uses 50 round Suomi mags) and when the leaf switch closes as the bolt travels rearward with each shot, it decrements that counter.

I hope those LED displays have an "off" switch or all they'll do is draw fire.

So if I blast one Portal on a wall surface 100 feet or so off the ground then blast a second Portal under you so you drop to your death, it isn't a weapon?

I would have to counter that no, GLaDOS' pimary function is to kill subjects or manipulate them into killing themselves by putting them into seeminly impossible situations. The portal guns only function is to open opposing portals so the user can travers through the puzzles.

With that argument, if someone was to hold you down and put a hole in your head with a cordless drill thus kiling you, would that mean the cordless drill can then be classified as a weapon? No, it's still only a tool.

/of course, arguing over whether or not a fictional item is a tool/weapon is only slightly more rediculas then that someone making replicas of said item is 'bringing them to life'

FYI, here in Massachusetts a shod foot can be considered a weapon if you attack with it. So is that drill you just used on someone's head. And to go further onto Fantasy Island, you do realize that the whole reason Aperture Science developed all that stuff including the Portal Gun was for warfare use?

Definitely should have made the list. Especially since it has lights, sounds and moves, and was made by WETA. And is huge.
