Has Anonymous ever taunted anyone that would actually kill them before?

This could be entertaining.

2011-11-04 11:21:03 AM
Well somebody has to do something, I applaud his courage.

2011-11-04 11:21:19 AM
This guy is an idiot. Period.

2011-11-04 11:21:42 AM
I'm not sure CNN has any idea what Anonymous actually is.

2011-11-04 11:22:05 AM
I support this cau.. wait a second, someone is at the door

2011-11-04 11:24:27 AM
Interesting. Suicide by Cartel.

2011-11-04 11:24:46 AM
There are very meaningful repercussions here, and I don't mean the guy's death. Society taking a stand against criminal behavior says a lot about the level of that civ.

2011-11-04 11:24:53 AM
Fark it, as long as Salma Hayek is in the USA, there is nobody in Mexico worth a squirt of piss. Farking human garbage.

Hypothetical Imperative: Has Anonymous ever taunted anyone that would actually kill them before?

This could be entertaining.

Scientologists? The US government and the banks that control it?

2011-11-04 11:26:42 AM
So I see people still don't understand that Anonymous isn't an organization.

2011-11-04 11:26:47 AM
I certainly hope Mr. Brown isn't too fond of having his head connected to his body, because he's about a week away from a decapitation.

Follow-up headline, Texas Man wearing Gay Fox mask found hanging from overpass. No one messes with the Mexican cartels, not even the American military. The entirety of the Mexican economy is drug trade or drug trade related. The heads of these cartels are more powerful than our presidents. We've been forced to fight a money war, which is ridiculous because the enemy has more money than us. And we're fighting a money war because we do not have the firepower to overthrow these guys. I feel sorry for anyone who gets in their way.

Jake Havechek: Fark it, as long as Salma Hayek is in the USA, there is nobody in Mexico worth a squirt of piss. Farking human garbage.

Would have been ever better as a simulpost, but that's pretty good right there.

Anyone taking bets on this guy wanting to do some good vs. this guy wanting the blood of some dead messicans on his hands?

2011-11-04 11:29:14 AM
joethebastard: I'm not sure CNN has any idea what Anonymous actually is.

I love it when the media doesn't get that it's really whoever feels like doing something on the net with other like-minded people. It's more like a impromptu disorganized flash mob than anything else. Frequently the same people are involved as they are "activists", but anyone can "join" Anonymous just by taking part in something "they" do, not that there is any structure, organization, command chain, or much of anything. Hell, apart from the *chans, I am not sure where "they" even "meet".

2011-11-04 11:29:33 AM
Doesn't the guy putting his name out there kind of defeat the whole "anonymous" part of doing stuff for and with Anon? I don't disagree with his goals, but his execution could use some work. Hopefully los zetas don't decide to help him out with that.

2011-11-04 11:29:43 AM
Good luck. We're all counting on you.

2011-11-04 11:30:13 AM
If his death iswhat it takes to get the US off sidelines in Mexico and in to the game, then he is a braver man than me.

falcescu: Well somebody has to do something, I applaud his courage.
I don't see what this acomplishes. does anyone think the authorities don't already know who is in the cartel? there normal technique of sending pizzas to their enemies houses might be more effective.

2011-11-04 11:30:53 AM
Right.
Because the first rule of covert operations is always go to the press and let your target know what you are going to do. Then tell them your real name and where you live.

Ill bet his wife is already spending that insurance money.
I hear it pays off double when disemboweled by Mexican hit-men.

2011-11-04 11:31:12 AM
"I should have the right and the ability as someone who is a fairly public person to work to ID criminals in a foreign country without having to worry about being murdered"

You're absolutely right, you should have that right and ability. Whether or not you do, especially living that close to the border, is an entirely different question.

Hey CNN, being anonymous is easier if you don't print the person's f*cking name.
This guy won't live long now.

2011-11-04 11:32:53 AM
Why in the world would you give your name out if you're about to do something like this on behalf of an organization that has, as it's central tenet, permanent anonymity?

If he really does have names and whatnot, and he really does give them out I hope it accomplishes something worthwhile because, frankly, the Mexico situation is an absolute catastrophe for the people in the middle of it.

But giving your name out on CNN while threatening an organized crime syndicate that is famous worldwide almost exclusively for its brutality? That's just beyond the pale when it comes to the level of stupidity.

When given the option in your upcomming meeting, go with this: i2.listal.com
The knife might seem like the obvious choice...but trust me, its better to go with the speed of the chainsaw. Nobody wants to watch you wheez and shake about like....like well you know. That other guy. Oh and go ahead and sit there stoicly and take it like a champ, its not like begging will do you any good.

On the plus side he might have decent odds IF he stays away from the southern border. "They" seem less inclined to bother with people el norte, I say "LESS inclined". He could get lucky and not be worth their trouble. Or he could become /b/'s next mastubatory material.

That sentence does not make any sense.

"Hello my name is Barrett Brown and Im about to join Anonymous"

Is it possible to be more retarded than that ?
Oh wait, it is, you can be a CNN reporter

// sometimes if I am feeling particularly kinky I put CNN on the right screen, FOX on the left screen, and pretend that they are journalists
/ I will get therapy, I promise, just as soon as I quit reading fark

2011-11-04 11:37:16 AM
This is silly.

You want to know what Anon really is?

Picture ten thousand screaming monkeys, slamming their hands against their keyboards. That's /b/.

Now, mingled in this mix of howling and feces-flinging, you have constant tides, pulls to this direction or that direction.

If Anon is feeling lazy or spiteful, your cause is mocked and/or occasionally actively sabotaged. Especially if they feel as if the plea for help isn't sincere enough, or if they're being taken for granted. Not Your Personal Army.

If Anon feels that the cause is righteous and full of lulz-potential, then you'll see a surge of support in that direction...that is mostly futile and stupid and generally involves cursing and flinging of feces.

Scattered throughout the mix of jpg posters, meme spewers and mobs of trolls, you have a small handful of 'smart' Anon. They have pre-made JPGs explaining to the rest how to accomplish what needs accomplishing. They explain in great detail how to accomplish a DDOS attack(low orbit Ion cannon), how to flood fax lines and phone lines

Most of this is just smart noise, intended as cover for the 'smart' ones, so that in the midst of ten thousand monkeys flinging crap and smearing it on the target, the smart monkeys are cracking security firewalls and getting in so they can download what information is necessary.

By necessity, the 'smart' ones never ever ever reveal themselves. They are the true Anonymous, while the ten thousand howling monkeys in Guy Faux masks are just the river in which they swim, hidden and supported by their idiot brethren.

The fact that this guy is standing up and saying "here I am, come find me, Anon!" means one of two things...

He's a plant, or he's an idiot and Anon is going to eat him alive, either way.

1/10. Very obvious. Maybe next time, try mentioning Obama.

The U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration says more than 43,000 people have died in drug-related violence in Mexico since December 2006, when President Felipe Calderon began a crackdown on cartels.

Jesus Christo! That's almost 24 people every day!

2011-11-04 11:37:55 AM
Shouldn't they be doing things for the lulz? Like saying "my name is Justin Bieber, I'm going to announce all Zeta members on stage at my next show, come at me, bros"?

Wow. This is dude is dead, one way or another. Idiot.

At least he was dumb enough to show his face. Now there won't be three hundred Texans named Barret Brown found around the state without their heads or skin.

2011-11-04 11:39:16 AM
Way off topic, but why do people who claim to be part of Anonymous wear a mask honoring a terrorist who tried to murder hundreds of civilians in order to impose a fundamentalist Catholic dictatorship?

They have a reverence for the movie V for Vendetta.

For the same reason that people aren't always referring to crispy, cooked bread when they say something is "toast."

Maybe "Barrett Brown" is actually the name of a guy in high school who made fun of him. What a way to get back at him years later!

/hope nobody here is named Barrett Brown. Anyone with that name better go into hiding pronto!

2011-11-04 11:43:20 AM
How can you join a movement dubbed "Anon" without knowing what anonymous actually means? Someone get this man a dictionary. I hope he used a false name and isn't really that stupid.

spentmiles: No one messes with the Mexican cartels, not even the American military.

Are you joking? Or a troll? You seem to have that reversed, and the US military isn't really involved in taking out drug gangs is because it really isn't that important. America wants drugs, people want to profit from the "war on drugs", and because of that the Zetas or whatever South American gangs don't have to worry about F-15's, M1A1 Abrams tanks, gunship helicopters, ect ect ect... What, you think if we piss off the drug gangs that they are going to drive up and take over the white house? I want some of what you have been smoking, and trust me even the secret service could handle everything the drug cartels can bring.

Because it has nothing to do with Guy Fawkes and everything to do with V for Vendetta.
