The guy was trouble and should definitely have been arrested but I don't think he needed to be killed for what he did. Cops who use force that leads to the death of people without a trial should always face murder charges.

It is very hard to subdue someone like this without injuring them, or getting injured yourself. The best tool the cops have is the taser. This could have led to a shooting otherwise, which would have led to death as well. So the roid monkey screwed himself - suicide by cop.

If they wanted to take him alive, electrocuting (to a perverse degree) a freak whose cardiovascular and neurological systems are overwhelmed is probably not the smartest tactic. If they wanted to kill him, they followed the correct steps.

Suicide implies the deceased wanted to die. I don't buy it. Just a few weeks ago NYPD cops gunned down a deranged woman in the street outside a home for battered and mentally ill women. They could have easily contained her, prevented her from leaving (she wasn't trying to get away by all accounts) until someone competent arrived. No, they didn't choose to do that. They decided to kill her.

I simply think that a jury should decide what happens to cops in these situations and not their own internal review. Otherwise we creep ever more steadily and stealthily toward summary executions.

Expect normally a tazer does take someone alive. But this guy was very obviously high on something and insane. They had to taze him because there was no other real option and that was enough to cause him to have a heart attack.

Really? I read it more as strongly hinting of taser abuse. Albany County law enforcement recently got slammed with taser abuse allegations. Then like a week later this guy died after being tasered repeatedly.

So death and abuse? Journalists eat that up on tap.

All the cops have in their toolbag is a gun and a taser when it comes to big drug crazed loons throwing a tantrum. The taser is the safest option to keep everyone safe, and the safety of the suspect is considered last. A dead suspect is preferable to a broken arm of a police officer.

Some people on PCP have heart attacks all on their own. The tazer didn't help but I can't really blame them for tazering him. A guy on PCP is farking dangerous.

For illustration purposes only. Not a real person. See store for details. Not available in Wisconsin, Canada or Maryland. Some restrictions may apply. No warranty expressed or implied. May have side effects. Consult your physician. If side effects develop seek help immediately. If side effects persist and spread to others call the Biggest Guy You Can Find Who Swings a Nine Pound Hammer Like The Angry Fist Of God. It'll be easier than three cops applying 100,000 volts to your tiny shrunken gnads. And get a hat, for god's sake. You look weird without a hat.

It absolutely works out that way. The NYPD is known to prefer a dead suspect to one that is injured and can testify in court that he was only holding an umbrella, not a gun. Why else do you think they go fo such overkill as 40 rounds into a guy? To make sure he is dead and not talking.

Once a cop fires a shot, the decision is made to make sure the suspect is dead.
