BILLINGS (AP) - Authorities are investigating after a high school class on a geology field trip found a human skull near Glendive in eastern Montana.

Dawson County Sheriff Craig Anderson said a class from Dawson County High School reported finding the skull at about 1:20 p.m. Wednesday. The sheriff's office, county coroner and Glendive Police Department responded, but few details about the investigation have been released.
Anderson said "it is too early in our investigation to speculate on what we have found."
