Lack of surprise.

They chose the money.

All that money, all of the donations and the tithes, and all those servants and limos and big houses.

What exactly do they think they were asking? They're not really part of the church community, it sounds like. They had a choice between that community and the money.

And, well, it sounds like they chose the money.

I don't mean to be unsympathetic or judgmental here, but if my minister is riding around in limos, I'm going to a new church.

I'm not saying the minister of my church has to renounce worldly goods entirely. But I'm uncomfortable with them living like the richest people on the planet.

I would not want to go to such a church. Especially if they have the gall to ask me for money to support such a lifestyle.

F*ck that. I'm taking God open source. you want to worship at my church, you can do it with as much of a UI as you want, or as little as you'd care for.

The biggest injustice in the world is that there isn't an actual hell for these god-peddlers to go to when they die.

Okay, gotcha on the food, subby. But where are the old folks supposed to send their Social Security checks now?

2011-11-04 01:03:21 AM
FTFA: "These are millionaires who have limos and chauffeurs," he said. "Why in God's name would they want the congregants to deliver meals? It's ludicrous."

Well... if they get free meals, that allows them to divert their limited resources to keeping the limos and chauffeurs... Duh! Goddammit, subby, this isn't rocket science!

Look at the birds of the air. They do not sow or reap or store away food in barns. Yet our Heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? And why do you worry about clothes? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow. They do not toil nor do they spin, yet Solomon in all his splendor was never dressed as beautifully as one of these.

If that is how God clothes the grass of the field which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you?

This analogy is probably the best I've ever read.

It's stuff like this that just makes the jesus spin in his grave ... you know, the place where the folks who rolled the stone out of the way, carried his body off too, and buried it.

You cannot cheat an honest man. Believer beware. A fool and his/her money is soon parted. Cast your bread upon the waters and the minister will dive in post-haste to retrieve it. Be not decieved. etc. etc. ad hominim, corpus delecti, eroticus sanctum.....

Shiny things are used to distract you while they take your money. Life is hard when you are a tard.

I actually thought the "limo" bit was a joke. Can't believe it's not.

Asinine doesn't even come close.

Try "pathologically hypocritical self-delusion"...

One of my former coworkers was very religious. Her church would buy a new BMW for their pastor every year. When I asked about this she claimed, "If he does not ride around in style then he sets a bad image for the church." When I said that they would be better off buying him a used Honda and using the difference to feed some homeless people she just scoffed at the idea.

The proposed deal with Chapman U. is very ...... interesting, what with the proposed purchase/leaseback deal.

And just how did that place end up bankrupt anyway?

Did they use lousy income projections, or not allow for the decline in church attendance?

I've been to several churches in my lifetime. The best ones to go to (as far as caring people) are the ones with older model vehicles in the parking lot. If you see lots of big fancy cars, you can bet it is more of a country club.

Shame on these people if they scammed the congegration.

The congregation let themselves be scammed.

How charming. Did you miss the part where they were charged with skimming $10 million from the church's endowment funds? These people are some of the creepiest farks ever and have long been fleecing their flock.

The pastor at my mother-in-law's church makes over 150k/year, and gets a free car, and a free townhouse. He was recently upset when his wife died, because the church board gave him a reduction in salary. They felt he no longer had insurance or bills to pay for the deceased. He got married again about a year after he death; the woman is one of those primly dressed churchwomen with the piles and piles of makeup on. I wonder if he married her to get the raise back.

/weirdness all around

JFC! Don't they have meals on wheels where those thieves live? Can't they afford to have someone come in and grocery shop and cook for them? Can't the limo driver do some shopping?

"We didn't want people going to their home because they are very private people,"

Bull Shait. WTF are they hiding? What do they not want people to see?

I surprised that one of the disgruntled parishioners hasn't tried to poison the bastards. Or pissed in one of the low sodium meals to spice it up a little.

I'm LOL'ing at all the suckers who donate money to a church, not just that one but all churches. If you want to help someone in need then give 10% of your income to some homeless dude sleeping on the street. If you do that the you know the money is going to the person in need. Why do you need a "good Christian" to distribute the money for you after he skims 50% off the top?

And that's what God expects from his sheep, here at the Greater Ebenezer New Revival Tree of Life lnstitutional Double Rock on the Side of the Road to Jericho Missionary Baptist Church of Zion! Y'all gon' help me! God expects you to do what the Lord wants you to do, like those of you who realize that, that the Lord wants you to give generously into his church, Amen! Don't ask no questions! Don't ask how come, or, or, or why come the pastor have to have him a nice house, humph! Or why come the pastor got to have a nice car, humph! Don't ask, I said, don't ask, I said, don't ask no questions, just give the money...

I thought the limo thing was a joke. We want your donations, but do not want to have to possibly come in contact with the great unwashed...

People are seriously still going to this church? That should be the next investigative article.

Sorry 'bout that; I totally missed that one. I normally don't seek out and follow embezzlement stories, as it's hard on my blood pressure. Now it all makes sense.

There's been some mention lately of declining church membership; some of the faithful wonder why.

It was not a physical need for food, it was a spiritual need for sustenance prepared by the loving hands of brothers and sisters who wish her well and wanted to share their love with the labor of their hands. The devil's anti-Christian mainstream media is always looking for a way to discredit the true believers, and playing the false hypocrisy card is a most common and most effective method.
