A sort sol. I saw one once. It was unreal how many birds there were and how long the trail.

Bonus points for actually holding the camera pretty damn steady in a canoe.

Nice.

It's stuff like this that almost makes me think there is a God.

I dare someone to go out there wearing a big suit made of bread.

You know Keith, I've always wondered - with all these starlings flying around all season, don't you think there would be a starling crash?

Or that a few simple rules can result in amazing, highly dynamic complexity.

One of the two.

What we have lost my friends.

The whole earth used to be full of similar sites.

It makes me think there is more beauty to math and the universe than most people know.

Starlings are more numerous than you realize. So much so, that they've displaced many species here in the states.

Math and life. Life and math. A beautiful thing. :-)

Not to be snarky, but is that sort of display very rare for a lot of people?
I thought most bigass bird flocks act that way and that it wasn't uncommon to see.

Here, we get bigass wads of starlings and bigass wads of blackbirds. The starlings are prettier to watch, but the blackbirds have a better soundtrack. Some flocks are so big it takes them more than five minutes to fly by. Always makes the kids giggle and point.

I came here to say something along these lines--except with certainty rather than doubtfulness . . .

One of my most memorable "close to God" moments was 11k feet up in the Tetons (WY) . . . the wonders of nature are one of the more tangible signs of God's existence.

As for the comments of "math" being involved--I'm sure you could analyze the birds' activity mathematically from a human perspective; but I'm damned certain those birds aren't "creatively" structuring their flight patterns . . . that's 100% innate.

. . . oh yeah, and I came to say "that would be WICKED to watch while tripping!"

Alright, i wasn't gonna watch yet another flock of birds flick, but I am willing to pay some respect to someone holding a camera still, in hopes that it encourages the mods to keep greenlighting well made videos.

But damn if that wasn't pretty cool... and a little bit eerie at the same time. +1
