Suuuuure, she "forgot" him. Kind of like babies on a hot day, 6 year olds are totally "forgettable".

He'll, I've been to Chuck E. Cheese for more birthdays than I can count, after a few beers and a ton of obnoxious kids screaming, the temptation to not be a parent anymore is strong at those moments.

/kidding, his mom's a farking moron

Sadly, what AbbeySomeone posted wasn't intended as a troll. It's quite dangerous nowadays for a male to approach a lost or injured child. There are some people make the assumption that the only reason they do this is because they plan to harm the child in some manner.

Oh, I hear you loud and clear. That shiat is messed up. Maybe reacting with incredulity to the assumption is the thing to do, rather than bland acceptance.

Who knows if it'll work.
We know that the other way isn't, though.

WOO HOO! Subs here with my first greenlight. Thanks guys:) As to the story, the mayor is a former firefighter, and chief who spotted the kid at one of the busiest intersections in Toledo. I considered the hero tag, but he did what he should have done, (the right thing) not a heroic thing. In addition to that, this former firefighting/chief/mayor has decided to throw his support against collective bargaining here. Not winning votes from his former comrades, or policemen. Eh I am willing to bet she has a huge farkin family. For one she's obviously a devout muslim as her kid goes to the local islamic school. While I know that some parents send their children to a religious school as they are better education-wise than the public schools, islamic schools have never struck me as the "elite private school" type of things. They may become such one day, but building up a such a reputation takes time.

Not to pick on muslims either. I know devout Catholics (the no birth control type), jews and mormons with equally as large families. It wouldn't surprise me in the least if this family took up an entire ford E-series van.

Hopefully the authorities don't give the poor woman too hard of a time and hopefully she'll start doing a formal headcount.

I can give the mom a mulligan for forgetting the kid. It's happened to people I know who are otherwise great parents, though they always realized it pretty much immediately, turned right around, and no harm was done.

But what's sad is this kid is 6 years old and doesn't know his home address or phone number. They have to contact his school to get a hold of his parents? Also, the kid doesn't think to go back into the Chuck E. Cheese to have them call his mom's cell phone or some other family member as he sees the van driving away? Come on mom, teach your kids to be resourceful and to memorize important information like addresses and phone numbers. Shiat like this is gonna happen.

At that point, just after 9 p.m., police were called and Sylvania Township officers showed up, questioned the boy, and learned that he is a student at Toledo Islamic Academy.

No, the real question I'm wondering here is how the hell did the kid get out of Check E. Cheese? Have you been to one lately? There is hand stampage action. Adults can only have one beer per X period of time. There's someone watching as people go in and out.

At least 2 years ago when I was in Chicago visiting my best bud and we took his nephew to the one down the street. I was logged as I bought a beer. Whenever I went out to smoke, as I came back in I had to somehow prove I was there with a group. It was quite unreal to be honest.

Chuck E. Cheese is supposedly a "safe" place to go right? So lets find out how this kid was allowed out on his own without the person he came in with. They do/did that also. I forget the exact methodology, but we were tagged to my friend's nephew so that only the 3 of us could have taken him out the door.

tl/dr hu? KHIKYDNRTFA? (all the way to the end anyway)

TFA:A Chuck E. Cheese's manager Thursday morning said the boy was checked out of the restaurant with his mother under the chain's "Kid Check" program. When guests arrive at Chuck E. Cheese's, they pass through a Kid Check area where parents or guardians have their hand stamped with a number that matches their child's. It is meant to ensure that everyone who comes together leaves together.

Brenda Holloway, spokesman Chuck E. Cheese's, said video footage from the store shows the boy leaving with his mother and a man.

"They all left together under our Kid Check program," she said. "What apparently had happened was they loaded up their car and drove away not realizing they had left behind something very important."

There is no video footage from the parking lot, Ms. Holloway said.

All snark aside, Cheeses' system is a good one. As a parent who has gone there I have seen 15 or more kids supervised by just a few adults. Keep in mind these kids are with friends, and hopped up on pepsi, pizza, and games. I have been disoriented there at times by the noise, lights, running around etc... Unfortunately there are those who look for these types of scenes to snare a kid. Nope, don't mind the Gestapo type security there at all.

It's been quite a few years now (maybe 10+) but I was driving, with my wife, when I saw a child walking down the street. I'm not sure how old he was, he was still in diapers, but I'd guess around three. I stopped myself from approaching him up and had my wife get out of the car to watch the kid while I went door-to-door looking for his home. I found it just a few houses down from where the kid was (which is how I know it was a "he") and notified the mother.

I once (since then) had a granddaughter under my care slip out of the house without me knowing*, so I know that these things can happen. But I was far too worried that if I (or my wife) had approached the child it might have turned into a real problem for us/me just because someone jumped to the wrong conclusion.

*When my granddaughter slipped out, neighbors recognized her and knew where she lived. They still contacted the police and had them pick her up and take her home.

As I was on my way to teach my 3rd grade class a couple weeks back in an elementary school, there was a guy who called out to me from across the parking lot. He was saying thing to the effect of "What are you doing here?" I said, "I teach here." He responds, "Oh... never mind."

One time I took my now ex and her mother to Wal-Mart to do some shopping and get my oil changed, I dropped them off at the front door and they took our oldest daughter with them, and left my youngest for me to grab. I drove around to get my oil changed, was waiting in a line for someone to get my info so I could get out of the car, she was sleeping in the back. Finally someone came and got my info, I passed him my keys and went into Wal-mart to find my gf (At the time) and her mother.

20 Min later I find them, and I'm like "Hey where is Emma?", they said yeah where is Emma She was in the car with you. RAN back to the automotive center where they were just bringing her infant carrier/carseat in getting ready to page me.

BOY That was embarassing
