But there are so many of them that it's hard to focus enough to determine similarity with other celebrities.

I think he is trying to say that he suffered a fap overload.

That doesn't sound all that great.

Also, why do Asian "boy/girl bands" have like 8-500 members?

Because it makes them easier to replace as they get caught up in scandals.

I can't argue with that opinion, but it really does depend on the midriff.

The 14-yo kid had the opinion I respected the most. They better learn English if they plan on making it here. Even Tatu recorded their song in English to come over here and pretend to be lesbians on stage and they only lasted a very short while.

Also, a 50-yo guy calling them "hip" is supposed to mean something?

2011-11-03 12:45:15 PM
Wait. How are we supposed to tell these girls apart? They all look the same.

jaylectricity: Also, a 50-yo guy calling them "hip" is supposed to mean something?

Yes, it means that they are seriously "un-hip"

I actually think K-Pop is cute, but I listened to a couple of songs and didn't really like it.

Also, the girls look identical. And there's like... 30 of them. There's no "celebrity" in the bunch. That's kind of what made the Spice Girls work; they were all distinctive so little girls could "pick" their favorite.

/Or is that me being racist?

What do you do of an evening if you're a young adult and can't go drinking about in pubs?

2011-11-03 03:12:13 PM
Girl's Generation (or SNSD for short in Korean) is one of the best groups out there. But, personally, my favorite group is 2NE1, who are more of the "bad girls" group to counter SNSD's "cute good girls" image. However, my current ring tone is SNSD's "Genie".

Big groups just happen to be big in Korea. For one thing, it's way more impressive to see 10 people performing tight choreography than a few. Also, they sometimes split off into little splinter groups for some songs.

BTW, Josh, 22, Indiana: They're pretty, but their type of beauty doesn't match the kind of "American sexy" they're trying to emulate. It comes out as awkward.

Just for fun, here's a list of some of my favorite K-Pop videos:
Hyuna - Bubble Pop (new window)
Mc Mong- Ice Cream (new window)
Girl's Generation - Gee (Dance Video) (new window)
2NE1 - It Hurts (new window)

And the (old) K-pop video that comes to anyone's mind that has ever seen any K-pop:
Kiss - Because I'm a Girl (new window)
Which is like essentially the plot of an entire Lifetime movie compressed into 8 minutes. I've seen the ending reduce both men and women to tears.

I typically link that video as a primer on the Korean cultural trait of extreme melodrama.

Well that, and this (new window).

She's pretty, but she's got nothing on Beyonce's "bubble popping".

Hilariously, on Wikipedia, 6 of the 9 have their role described as "Rapper" or "Lead Rapper".

I don't think Hyuna is pretty at all, honestly, I just think the song is catchy. But I always though it was refreshing to see her cellulite wasn't digitally removed, haha.

Cant listen to it here at work. But they are Korean and probably sound like Japanese porn. Have them washed and brought to me, muzzle them if you have to.
