Oh look at you, Smitty, you're just so edgy hating something popular!

Perhaps he was overwhelmed by the sheer volume of emotion portrayed by the robots.

Say what you will about Real Steel, Butter, Snow Flower and the Secret Fan, X-Men: First Class, X-Men Origins: Wolverine, Australia, Deception, Happy Feet, Flushed Away, The Prestige, The Fountain, Scoop, X-Men: The Last Stand, X2, Kate & Leopold, Swordfish, Someone Like You and X-Men, but he had really pretty hair in Van Helsing.

Sylvester Stallone hugging his kid after the tournament championship?

I enjoyed it... I realized it was the best mash-up/remake of ROCKY and OVER THE TOP we will ever get...yeah...

it's robots...boxing-ish... just turn off the brain and let it ride.

It's a movie based on Rock-'em Sock-'em Robots. What exactly did people expect?

no seriously... its a remake of Stallones from Over the Top (new window) 1987 mashed up with Rocky ... most of the general story line is from Over the Top

"Lincoln Hawk (Stallone) is a struggling trucker who's trying to rebuild his life. After the death of his wife, he tries to make amends with his son who he left behind years earlier. Upon their first meeting, his son doesn't think too highly of him until he enters the nation-wide arm wrestling competition in Las Vegas"

they even have shot for shot lifts right out of the orginal...what with the shadow boxing on the side of the road, living out of the truck etc.

then theirs the Rocky parts... hell the "champion" Robot is painted all black, and named Zeus, and Atom LOSES to Zeus in a decision based on points, but only barely.. much like the champ in Rocky was named Apollo, and Rocky LOST a decision based on points, but only barely...cuz they both had heart and defied everyones expectations...etc.

that said though... the FX were really well done, and it's the first fight film in a LOOONG time not filmed in blurry confuseOvision.

I'm not sure Wolverine will ever just come out of the closet. Dance, maybe. Skip, definitely. Frolic with sissy hands quivering over his head and mascara dribbling down his cheek, certainly.

B) "Why on Earth did Hugh Jackman do this?"
C) "Dear god this movie looks stupid"

I don't know...I gave you two possible options...sub 90 IQ, or never seen a Hollywood film...you choose stupid... anyways... since ROCKY has been out since 1976 and I was specifically pointing out how much this film lifted from ROCKY and another less known Stallone vehicle... I assumed most of you knew how ROCKY ended.
It's not spoiling anything for anyone with half a brain dude... in REAL STEEL, the only thing more obviously telegraphed than the punches, is the plot.

Nope, you spoiled the ending. Just admit it. By saying it was exactly like Rocky, and then going on to describe the outcome of the fight, you spoiled it.

Whether you consider it to get super obvious or not, you did. Accept it, apologize and move on.

Hadn't seen the movie. Had no clue what it was even about. Seriously, the only previews I've seen just show us Hugh Jackman looking down on his luck, and some robots fighting, which was enough to tell me I wasn't really interested. They never said anything about "Inspired by "Rocky" and "Over The Top". YOU said that. I didn't even know there was a kid involved until you decided to put fingers to keyboard and post. But then I don't watch a ton of TV and could easily have missed some trailers.

Personally, I don't give a shiat, because I'm not going to see the movie (at least not soon, or in theaters). But if you spoiled the ending of the movie for someone who actually cares, that's kind of a dick move. Would typing "Spoiler Alert" have been that hard?

Seriously though, didn't even occur to me. and frankly knowing what you now know about the movie should make ZERO impact on your ability to enjoy it. If you don't want to have a movie spoiled, why did you go into a thread on Fark about the movie after it was released. The ignorance does flow off you in great waves doesn't it?

EVER SINGLE Fark thread discussing some aspect or actor of a movie after it is released has spoilers. It is a GIVEN.

Crying about it and asking for an apology is like going to 4Chan and complaining about how snarky people are. You will be belittled even more and displayed for the ignorant person you are.

Kinda like when people were going around to book stores during the release of the last Harry Potter book saying "Snapes killes Dumbledoor on page 596" and other spoilers. Fark linked to articles and videos talking about that. Farkers who were Harry Potter fans read the links and/or went into the discussions about the articles and complained/demanded apologies for the article/video/discussion 'spoiling' the book. An article clearly labelled (unlike this of course but the example remains) "Pranksters Spoil Final Book for Harry Potter Fans" probably would contain information about what the pranksters were saying to the Harry Potter fans and what those spoilers were. The Fark discussion certainly would.

Again, since it seems you must be new to Fark, had forgotten how Fark works, or just don't visit that many Entertainment threads....EXPECT SPOILERS.

/you'll get over it

Dude, you're being an ass. If you saw a single trailer for the movie you know the basics of the entire freaking movie. Kid befriends down on his luck boxer or it's his dad, for some reason kid and boxer are looking through a junkyard and find a robot. They fix it and teach it to box, and form a bond throughout the training and some matches which their cool little underdog robot surprisingly wins. From there it can only go towards robot dies/loses/is unrepairable and the kid and boxer have an everlasting bond, or robot wins some type of championship and everyone lives happily ever after, everlasting bond, yadda yadda yadda.

I've only seen the televised and internet trailers for the movie. The only difference between this movie and say "Iron Giant" is the specifics (names, locations and so forth) and how good the acting and special effects are. Not exactly anything ruined in knowing the ending to the movie. You see sometimes there's movies or books where the ending doesn't really mean fark all and the important part is the events up to the end. Don't be such a damn little baby.

/somewhat curious as to how accurate I was about the actual content of the movie.
