I'd be surprised if they traded the big prospects. Trading prospects was a George thing, his sons seem to listen to the baseball people. There are numerous stories of George calling up Gene Michael in the early 1990's and demanding the Yankees trade guys like Jeter, Rivera, Posada, Petitte for overpaid nobodies. It was always amazing to me how Donny Baseball ever made it through all those years with the Yankees.

This guy is just blathering. Trade Granderson or Swisher? and replace them with what? They resigned Swish because there is a dearth of free agent Rightfielders right now. Why give up Gardner? He's cheap, the best base stealer we've had since Henderson, and he can hit, this doesn't even count his defense. Trading prospects is fine, but you don't fill one hole while creating another.

I think even Steinbrenner knew not to fark with him. He was our generations Mickey Mantle. Without him, I wonder how bad the attendance would have fallen in those lean years.

...But the Hideki Irabu and Kei Igawa signings are also cautionary tales...

Kei Igawa. Worst. Signing. Ever.

$46 million for 2 FARKING MAJOR LEAUGE WINS?!

Even Carl Freaking Pavano won more games for the Yankees than that!

FFS, don't trade Montero. He was killing it in the few AB's he had. Get some LHP to start and in the pen and start thinking about backups for the old infielders.

FTA: Swisher is due just $10.25 million this year

Just? Sports teams and their players don't live in the same world as the rest of us, do they?

Lol, as opposed to every other year they've been extremely conservative in the free agent market.

Igawa has 36 minor league wins and 1 save. That counts for...something.

Igawa refusing to go anywhere while down in the minors, that sure does count for something.

Yankees trading any of their current home-grown stars is about as likely as the Mets trading David Wright.
