you realize if this is true, you could probably resell copies to people for the next week at double the price. Id be interested for that alone. Supply and demand and a healthy dose of impatience means money in the bank.

I used to work for FedEx in one of the next day air hubs and I would see a lot of boxes of games and DVDs with the sticker "do not display until xx/xx/xxx", but it was being shipped overnight 2 months before the release date. I never understood why companies would spend more money on overnight shipping for products that they weren't even going to sell for months.

Does anyone know if they would carry the PC version?

I spent several hours trying to convince my friends how much better BF 3 is. Unfortunately, people are too enamoured by COD's fast paced gameplay. They like getting 50 kills a match regularly. As opposed to playing a slower, more strategic, and IMO more entertaining style of FPS.

I must have played with the wrong groups, last time I played a BF game you had players either Spawn, race to the vehicle, die, race for the same vehicle, repeat. Or snipe, die, go back to the same point to snipe, repeat. Rush in, die, rush in repeat.
I never found a room where anyone seemed to be playing tactically, wish I had.

My friends and I are pretty like-minded gamers, I don't think any of us plans on buying MW3 as we've been playing that game for the last 4 years and it's gotten boring. COD is like the Madden of shooters with their franchise updates. Each iteration gives new maps, new perks, no gameplay tweaks. It's essentially a roster update. I honestly don't know anyone who plans on buying Mw3, everyone I've talked to is sick of the series... Enter: Battlefield 3.

This is the first Battlefield game I've owned and so far it's been the most fun that I've had in a shooter in a long time. The classes, the slow paced unlocks, and the rewarding teamwork means I plan on playing for quite some time. I played a Conquest match on Caspian Border where my buddy and I got in a dune buggy and just ran around capping objective for the entire game. We'd take one, hop in the jeep and zip off for the next one. We probably had 10 kills between the two of us and had double the points of the next best guy on the team who had 20 something kills.

The only problem I have with that right now is the damn jet levels. Everyone wants to fly the new jets, so you have 8 people refusing to spawn until a jet shows up to spawn in, 1 person grabbing it, and the other 7 still waiting. All the while every objective is being captured and you're left with...well yourself.

What I really want is for them to release a map that's just over open water with two aircraft carriers on either side. Make it just jets (and maybe some helicopters) and team deathmatch style. Everyone gets a chance to fly and shoot others down and you introduce a new game mode "Dog Fight". Or you could make each Carrier a base with specific objectives you have to destroy, and whichever team destroys the other's first wins. So you have play defense and offense at the same time.

If I was to guess, it would be for peace of mind. **send it out Monday evening---Tuesday morning, confirm it has arrived: headache averted** The longer it's in the system, the harder it would be to pinpoint if anything got lost in transit, tampered with, leaked or stolen. Not to mention more hands would be involved with a slower service, stopping off in multiple terminals along the way, and an investigation would be that much more complicating. Probably why there are armored trucks. Sure, you could probably squeeze a couple million in a duffle bag and get it to the bank completely undetected or arousing any suspicion, but an armored truck just minimizes any potential problems.

This. I've played the shiat out of every COD release, loved every one too. Never gave any thought to another FPS. But I just bought BF3, and after about a week of learning the basics of survival, I am very impressed. So much so that I might delay my purchase of MW3.

Different developers. This is a new one to the series and they've actually made some fairly fundamental changes to the series, such as replacing kill streaks completely with pointstreaks instead, so now the game does more than just reward killing.

The multiplayer between CoD3 to MW1 is significantly different.

My cow-orkers are trying to get me to play BF3 with them. I'm sticking with COD though. I'm just not much of a fan of BF's gameplay. I'm way too twitchy and if my experiences with bad company 2 are any indication I'd just be frustrated as hell with BF3. Spawn, get sniped, spawn, run for a jeep, other player hops in it first and drives off with just him in the vehicle, get sniped, spawn, kill sniper, run for 5 minutes to get to objective, get sniped, spawn, try to shoot down the apache that's now raping our base, die, spawn, die, spawn die...yeah no thanks. I've been playing MW2 more in the past few weeks and aside from the occasional hacker I've been having a blast. Just runny gunny craziness. I guess that's just my gameplay style now.

For straight up infantry combat, COD games are fun. The unlocks come really fast and it's easy to kill people. Getting 30 kills is pretty eays once you get a feel for things and the combat is very fast paced and hectic.

If you want something more tactical and open, BF 3 really excels. Maps are gigantic and vehicle play is fun. I prefer to tackle the infantry combat more often than vehicle to vehicle combat and this is the first Battlefield game that's sold me on its gunplay. The maps are incredibly varied as well which makes it always feel fresh. Console serve browser also lets you filter for what you want, a major plus especially when joining friends games. If you don't like a sniper in a window... blow up his window. If he moves to another window, blow up his building. No two matches are the same and there's a solution to every problem.

But if you just want to go online and shoot people until TOR comes out, COD is much more accessible in that regard and you should get bored of it right around winter time if you don't have a group who plays regularly. It's an idiot-proof shooter. Hope that helps.

Did you RTFA? It was only about 85 words. FTFA:

"The games are marked incorrectly marked as for immediate release on the cartons..."

It's not some stockboy's problem to verify the manufacturer's written instructions against the possibility that the manufacturer made a mistake.

Both very different games.

BF3 has large open areas with vehicles and requires strategy and team work. MW3 is a corridor twitch shooter where every person thinks they're a one man army.

Been playing BF3 and loving it. Finally starting to get some kills instead of being killed all the time.

COD 4 and MW2 were pretty amusing, but like many of you also said, just got a bit old. I still don't understand the MW3 vs. BF3 thing going on... they are different styles of FPS.

You like twitchy, fast paced kill fests? COD is your game.
Like vehicles & slower paced team warfare? BF3 is great.

Each game satisfies a different gamer. Heck, even both for the people with the money. I got friends getting MW3 just for the ability to go 'lone-wolf' a bit easier. I will stick to my BF3, thank you very much. Nothing makes me cackle with glee more than taking out a heli with my tank. NOTHING!

killro: Nothing makes me cackle with glee more than taking out a heli with my tank. NOTHING!

So you haven't shot a jet down yet I assume. Don't worry though, it takes a combination of pure luck and a daredevil/carefree pilot. Had a pilot doing strafe runs on Caspian Border, going really low to the ground and opening fire on anyone on the road. Pulled my tank up and waited. He circled around, started the dive and I just waited until he flew right above my crosshairs. Fired the shot and watched the shell connect right with the nose.

It was beautiful and I don't ever expect it to happen again. It doesn't stop me from trying though!

Guess what, having an allegiance to a particular series means you're an idiot. All of these games are very similar to each other with slightly different mechanics. They're all retreads on a very established and familiar formula.

Gaming elitists are annoying, and need to get over themselves.

Grand Poohbah: I can hardly wait until MW3 comes out so the quickscoping racist kids will start playing it and Black Ops becomes fun again.

I'm anxious, because for the first few months there are hardly any cheaters. Even on the 360, people can mod their gamer profile data to have things like wall hacks, force map votes, etc. All you need is a USB drive and the ability to follow a DIY guide. In CoD kill cams it really shows when someone can see through walls, so at least there is that and you can vacate that lobby.

Used to be one of the perks of console gaming, no cheaters. Halo managed it decently until Reach(which farked up the game play and botched the security). Another annoyance is the advent of the keybaord and mouse adapters, and rapid fire controllers, giving that non-sanctioned gear buyer a supreme advantage.

Hopefully MW3 will be more like MW2 in that sure, there were glitches, but the actual hacking was kept to a minimum in normal matchmaking for a good while after release.(and if you did get into a glitched / jtag lobby, it was apparent right off, everyone shooting ac-130 rounds or something like super speed walking and map friction tweaks).

Black Ops plays more like Counterstrike does on the PC(hack fest) now and it became that way shortly after release.

acella: Guess what, having an allegiance to a particular series means you're an idiot.

No, it just means that other games don't suit your tastes. It has nothing to do with intelligence.

Don't pass over K-Mart so quickly if your looking for games.

I got a really good deal buying Dark Souls there when it came out on the 4th. The deal was buy any new game that week, get a coupon on your receipt for $20 off your next game purchase.

Went back and got Rage for $40... (Rage is awesome btw)

They also have a lot of things hidden on the shelf behind the new releases that you can't find at most other places. The just keep the inventory when it doesn't sell. All new and unopened.

It's really a good place to shop for games if your like me and support the devs by buying new.

You know, I read this and I thought that this post ignored all the perfect valid business reasons for street dates, from both the publisher, store, and consumer sides, and thought that if a pirate couldn't wait 6 days for the game to come out on the day it was scheduled for release they would probably pirate the game no matter what.

Then I read the Activision has asked for account bans on the consoles if people play the game they legit bought early because they stickered the games wrong when they shipped them.

So fark 'em. Pirate that shiat.

Just wanted to say thanks for the recommendation. Almost had a derp moment, but I did a digital download last night. Figured with the ATI 6970 I picked up a few months ago, PC was the way to go+already have a headset+no need to go to the sote+64 players! Nice!

I suck right now, but played about 10 games. My best was 10k - 6 D, but most of the other games I had a negative K-D ratio. I'm leaning towards a support class with the big machine guns for suppression because I can't snipe for crap.

Oh also, it's soooo pretty, and I didn't even max out the gfx yet. Thanks Farkers!

Do you have a link to that article? I was searching too and saw that the XBL Director specifically said "For those asking about MW3 pre-release play: If your copy is legit and obtained legitly [sic], have fun. It's a great game."

If Activision went full douchebag (surprise, surprise) I'd love to read about it.
