FTFA: 'A blue eye is not opaque, you can see deeply into it, while a brown eye is very opaque. I think there is something very meaningful about this idea of having open windows to the soul.'

The eyes are not the windows to the soul. They are the doorway.

There was as study a few years back that seemed to indicate that blue-eyed men preferred blue-eyed women, possibly because it makes it easier to determine the paternity of offspring.

Link

"Both blue-eyed and brown-eyed women showed no difference in their preferences for male models of either eye color. Similarly, brown-eyed men showed no preference for either blue-eyed or brown-eyed female models. However, blue-eyed men rated blue-eyed female models as more attractive than brown-eyed models."

As a blue-eyed man, I've dated across a pretty wide spectrum, but I will say that big blue eyes can stop me in my tracks.

God damnit, now I'm remembering that Toni Morrison book, "The Bluest Eye". I swear to god my High School just decided "Hey, let's make the junior highschool reading list some of the most depressing books we can find!

It showed up again in a college course I was taking. I politely told the professor I refused to read the book again, and went mostly from memory and cliff notes (he was a pretty good professor, and seemed to understand.)

Christ that book was depressing.

Aren't there statistics that show a trend of blue eyes becoming more rare in the population, or will be in the very near future?

But how freaking vain do you have to be to mess with your eyes to change the color? Hell, I've got really shiatty eyesight but I can't even bring myself to consider Lasik because I'm convinced I'll be that rare patient who ends up blinded and scarred by the laser after something goes horribly wrong.

Being blue eyed and ghost white, I'm not attracted to blue eyes, or light skin.
I also believe that blue eyes let in more light, thus providing better night vision, but it is a detriment during the day.

I love my girls big Coffee eyes and caramel skin.

Off topic and irrelevant, but technically all contacts have to be prescribed by a opthamologist/doctor. It's a FDA violation to sell contacts without a prescription, even if it's not corrective and just decorative. last I remember reading somewhere it's a pretty hefty fine to sell contact lenses without a prescription.

The first photo looked more gray than blue, while the second photo looked more green. I wonder if they're using the term "blue" to cover every color that isn't brown (blue, green, hazel & gray).

True blue eyes tend to be very intense. They're sorta creepy, actually. Personally, I like steel grey eyes. Yum.

I have green eyes and thats kind of a weird color because they can look kind of cold but I would never let anyone get near them with a laser for any reason, even lasik - like someone else posted I am never going to wear contacts because I can't imagine touching my eyes or getting used to doing it and I think its a great way to get germs into them. I do wear glasses however and I have tiny flecks of brown in my eyes so it would be interesting to see how they would look without those but I don't think I would take a chance and have something totally irreversible thing done to them.
