Haven't read TFA, but is it safe to assume their brilliant idea to protest against the wealthy was to deny blue collar folks a day's pay by keeping them from being able to do their jobs?

I got the impression that the Longshoremen Union was complicit with the protesters.

You mean the brigades made up of vets that have just come back from combat. I am sure that the longshoreman will do well against combat trained angry vets.

BTW, next time RTFA as they longshoremen mostly seemed to support the shutdown but don't let silly list things like that stop you from making wildly misleading statements.

The media is entirely complicit in demonizing them though.
It'd be like appealing to Syrian state television to get tanks to stop firing at your home.
At some point you just have to fight fire with fire.
Corporations (through government proxy) and governments use unjustified force all the time for personal gain and for the most part get a pass as legitimate in the media. Some force in self-defense, self-preservation, and to respond to the escalation of Oakland's finest street gang is just fine.

Because the longshoremen are tired of fighting the corruption by themselves.

I love all the bootlicking corporate whores who came rushing in here to scream about the protesters denying hard workers a day's pay, totally oblivious to the fact that the hard workers being denied a days pay were, apparently, complicit with the shutdown.

And so it continues. If you can't argue with their point, just keep trying to make everybody think they're a bunch of flighty hippies no matter how obviously far from the truth you are.

Oh, and I'm sure if you open your mouths wide the wealthy will be happy to trickle down on you in gratitude for all your selfless and idiotic groveling against your own basic interests.

FTA:

"According to Jordan, 60-70 anarchists 'dressed in all black and wearing a handkerchief or mask over their face' were responsible for the damage."

How do we know that they weren't Anarcho-Syndicalists, Fascists, Consociationalists, or Neo-Collectivists?

Or, (and I know this is going to sound far-fetched) maybe it was a bunch of people without any overarching political theory that like smashing windows?

FTA

At the press conference, Oakland's City Administrator Deanna Santana pleaded with protesters: "No fires, no vandalism, no throwing bottles or rocks or human waste at police officers."

Since when do the protesters throw each other at the police?

Nothing is stopping feminists from arming themselves. Wouldn't hold out much hope for disarming the cops though. I suppose you could try running up to them and grabbing their guns. Let me know how that works out.

Some began attacking his car, while others yelled, "Peaceful. Peaceful."

Anarcho-Syndicalists.
Fascists would have been beating up the protesters.
And yes, Black Blocs are usually composed of anarcho-syndicalist, it's usually really easy to spot the red and black banners.

This is the second wave of anti-Wall Street protests (no, the teabaggers were not the first wave. Cue jumpyoufarkers.jpg). OWS may well die out, like you say, but next year there will be a third wave. The year after a fourth, and so on. Each wave will be larger and angrier than the previous one.

The 1% have a choice: reform or revolution. When you consider the momentum of OSW, I think they'll have to choose fast.

BOA caved on the $5 debit card fee after all its rivals who were expected to impose thier own $5 fees in its wake, blinked and backed off instead

Obama just proposed a Mjaor shift in student loan re-payment that was more or less the same as the one proposed by OWS supporters

The DNC is now sending out emails supporting the OWS movement and even some of the Tea-party republicans are trying desperately to claim credit/common cause with it.

The protests, which started as few-dozen pissed off people in NYC are now into their second month and rather than dying out, they've spread to dozens of US cities and are even taking root internationally, despite fierce opposition from local authorities.

These are not the ineffectual and often silly anti-war protests of the Bush era, these are protests that are tapping a real zeitgeist in America.

To quote Buffalo Springfield: "There's something happenin' here, what it is ain't exactly clear..."

Amazing that you managed to continue conflate two different sets of people, even as you just conceded that they are not the same people.

But then again, it's you we're talking about here, and your capacity for Doublethink is well-demonstrated.

I propose the adoption, and widespread use of the following new phrase:

"Dumber than a bag of hamsters".

All in favor?

Wow. The Limbaugh derp is strong in here.

Hey guys, turn off the radio and TV for 2 weeks. It will be hard. Your brains will hurt as you try to find answers to questions posed. Keep at it. Slowly your mind will begin to find answers and you'll be thinking for yourselves. The radio and TV won't sound like an echo chamber in your mind anymore. You'll be free to formulate your own opinions. Rush and Glenn will sound like idiots and so will most TV news.

It's almost like the labor in this country accounts for such a large number of people yet commands such a small amount of power that we literally have no choice but to succumb to the whims of our economic superiors or risk causing harm to the whole of society in an effort to raise awareness of the social imbalance that affects us all!
