How is this any different from the masses that populate the malls and amusement parks of the US wearing matching clothing. Can't find the particularly heinous matching tracksuit/shell-suit examples that seems commonplace, but you get the idea.

Not really. How can you tell?

This morning a couple of Chinese school girls in matching uniforms were on the train with me.

I did not have a problem with this.

/every morning, actually.

That shirt is as appalling as they must find our pseudo-asian stuff.

A cowboy riding a duck saying Be Cool Man? Really?

Holy crap.

Calling it sick is too strong. It's quite alright once in a while. Weird if done all the time.

2011-11-03 04:07:10 AM
Eh, it's a little goofy, but it seems mostly harmless. No worse than some of the engagement photos I've seen, at any rate.

My god, it's as if people love each other. What a bunch of sick bastards. Don't you know you're supposed to be grossly self-involved?

D'awww. Its kind of cute. Sort of. Yeah, it is. Its fun, if nothing else, at least.

Having spent the first four years of my military career in Worst Korea I can say that this practice has been going on there since the early 2000 time frame.

Had a few girlfriends in my time there that tried that shiat with me, all it did was indicate that it was time to move on.

2011-11-03 04:11:47 AM
i first noticed this in korea a few years ago

How can you tell, dude? Do you and your boyfriend match when you go out, and think those that don't or won't are woefully stuck in basements? I don't follow. My girlfriend goes out of her way to make sure we don't look like we are matching. I had on a purple shirt last week, and she went and changed her purple sweater to avoid this.

/srsly

What type of sick pervert still has feelings? Don't those die when you turn 18.

The headline indicates "couples" are engaged in this. However, I'd swear on my father's grave that slideshow only had one couple in it.

/that's lasist

2011-11-03 04:33:49 AM
This sounds possessive and controlling.

2011-11-03 04:35:27 AM
Strange. Those were heterosexual couples, and yet it was the gayest thing I've seen this year, and I've seen two "bears" kissing each other.

2011-11-03 04:36:29 AM
also came to say noticed this about 5 years ago with Koreans. Many of them honeymooning in matching outfits in Thailand when I was over there.

2011-11-03 04:39:35 AM
Once when I was at the Dallas-Fort Worth airport I saw two older couples get off a plane from Italy, and all four were wearing matching outfits: American flag print western style shirts and jeans (denim skirts for the ladies), with white cowboy hats and brown cowboy boots.

True story.

I always wondered how much waiter saliva they ingested during their trip.

FTFA: Eric Zhang (张昕杰), left, and Yao Kaiyan (姚凯艳) have been together for more than five years. Yao dictates the majority of the couple's paired wardrobe, which includes T-shirts and shoes. "I listen to her," says Zhang. "She is my queen."

Ah. [coughs] p-ssy whipped!

Have you noticed that Chinese are still wearing matching outfits? All the denouncements had absolutely no effect. Parents and counselors constantly scorn them, but people are still wearing matching outfits and nothing seems to stop them.

2011-11-03 04:59:58 AM
It's not just a Chinese things, or recent. "Identical anoraks" has been the de facto uniform for Canadian tourists visiting the UK for as long as I can remember.

That just made me want to go find a chinese girl.

If the only way you can get a boy/girlfriend is by agreeing to dress like him/her, then you need to take a step back and reevaluate some things.

On the other hand, if you just truly enjoy dressing like your partner, then by all means go ahead. The rest of us will enjoy it just as much, only for different reasons.

Am I the first to say I have been seeing this in Korea for years? Also this just shows t-shirts, the worst is couple outfits; same shirt, pants and shoes, sickeningly cute....

Being in a couple does not mean surrendering your individuality to a two-headed hive mind.

This has been popular in Korea for years. Actually they have couple stores here where you can buy matching underwear, coffee cups, well just about anything. On top of the couple tees, they also get matching cell phones and the younger kids will wear matching shoes. It's sickening. My wife is Korean and when we were dating I bought an iPhone. Two days later she ordered one for herself as well. Luckily, she understands my hate for couple tees so we don't do that. Though once, we both packed our Ho Chi Minh Hard Rock shirts. We didn't know this until the next day of the trip. We just looked at each other, laughed, and I proceeded to change into the shirt I wore the day before. If you're interested there is a facebook group about the Korean couple tee. I think it's just called Korean couple tees.

The only disturbing thing about this trend is their adoption of American physiques (in most cases).
