(Some Guy) Weird The old ESPN Zone in DC is auctioning off everything. So you can get nostalgic over watching 37 games at once and paying $15 for a burger while doing it   (rasmus.com) divider line 30

Man they really are auctioning EVERY goddamn thing.

Someone besides myself haunts Rasmus. Can pick up a decent server for $45 on a regular basis.

It would be nice to pick up a waitress, but apparently you have to deinstall her.

I went to that place once before a basketball. It was indeed ridiculously expensive and not that good.

Current bid on the second item is 5 cents. You might be able to get in on that one yourself.

/First one is up to $40

I can't really stop by and pick it up, though. :/

A round trip flight to DC, paying a few movers for a couple hours and freight probably adds up to around 6-800 bucks, at a guess. About half of what one would probably cost new.

If you're in the DC area, from what i know, mass liquidation auctions like this tend to see just about everything go for pennies on the dollar. So, yeah, if you can pick it up, it's absolutely a bargain hunt.

I would like an air hockey table.

Thanks in advance for delivering it to my house.

I'll probably just turn it on and lay on it.

So, 3 plasma TV's and none of them power up?

I remember visiting it back in 8th grade during our DC trip. Having the current game on a mini-screen above the urinal was amazing.

It was the second most memorable urinating experience next to the Eddie George's Grill in Columbus, Ohio that has a one-way mirror above the line of urinals looking out of the bathroom into the seating area. What the fark, Eddie.

FARK YES! Right before they closed, I actually called asking if I could buy their Mocap Boxing game. They told me it was all going back to ESPN.

Guess I was misinformed. I should put in a bid. I've always wanted that game.

Any used toilets?

I have been to both the DC and the Time Square one. I always felt there was an air of arrogance associated with those places. There were always VIPs areas that were half empty while all the stearage area was packed. Not good customer service. It pleases me mightily that the farkers went under.

Ok, I'll take 19848,19822, and 19862. Please.

/Pretty please.

ESPN Zone in DC closing? Good. Now, if we could only close the rest of em, and also close the RnR Hall of Fame and all remaining Planet Hollywoods and Hard Rock Cafes.

Worthless tourist traps. I rarely use the term, but if you patronize any of those places, you're one of the "sheeple".

brap: I would like an air hockey table.

Me too. Glad they have more than one.

And it looks like they have every obscure sports-related arcade machine ever invented.

While we're at it, why don't we close New Orleans and the entire Outer Banks...

I went to the one in Chicago and they had a rule where you had to spend at least $50 an hour in order to keep your table. Just image if you went alone to watch a game.

It's not a tourist trap if they deliver on what they promise. New Orleans promises that you'll get shiatfaced and eat good food. They deliver. ESPN Zone promised that you'll eat decent food and have fun watching sports. It totally failed.

The ESPN Zone concept had great potential (watch sports, watch more sports, see sports related stuff, play games, drink beer, eat food). Who doesn't like a good sports bar?

But it was run by redarded arseholes, who were so intent on raping every last cent out of your pocket that most people walked away feeling personally insulted by that horrible place.

Seriously they had minimum $/person/hour rates that you had to spend in order not to get kicked off your table. Fark me? Oh no, let me retort - FARK YOU.

Man...anyone from the Boston area feel like going in on a UHaul to go buy some stuff and bring it back up?

They justified this by calling their concept an upscale sports bar which called into question why you'd even need to go to a bar if you're "upscale". You probably have a sports package and a nice TV if you truly fit the demographic.

I go to a hole in wall sports bar near my house because they have every game, the booze is cheap, and they still let you smoke. Everyone in there appears to be gambling. It's great.

THIS. I have been to the Times Square location, and it seemed like they couldnt decide if they were a sports bar or a VIP club. They failed at both. The last time i went, we were packed like sardines into a corner by a giant support column. Apparently this made us invisible as we had some of the worst service ever, even for a tourist trap in NYC. Good riddance.

the one here in Denver was so jam packed with tables you couldnt make your way through the room. the place also had a dirty vibe to it. thankfully a tilted kilt opened up right below it and pushed espn out the door.

I never went to the one in Baltimore (where I live), and I don't really think I missed much. The place seemed like it might be okay for a field trip, but absolutely terrible to actually watch and enjoy sports. But that's what you get when you're owned by Disney.

The ESPN Zone in Baltimore is being replaced by a Philips crab house, which is a huge step up in quality.

Now, if ESPNZones had sports gambling legalized within them, they'd be worth going to.

I remember going to one...years ago...I think. Anyhow, the experience wasn't memorable, obviously.

Are they all closing down?
