At this rate are there going to be more straw polls or debates for the GOP?

Yes, because people pay to vote in straw polls. They are a fundraiser. They don't mean shiat.

Does someone need to make a new list for Fark, the components of the conspiracy against Ron Paul.

on Ron Paul related news he is not ruling out a third party run. Link (new window)

You'd think he would get tired of doing this all the time when it doesn't help him at all. Of course, it isn't any money out of his budget, he's just hitting up his fools for more money.

Run Ron Paul.

Do it.

I'm tempted to switch party affiliations just to vote for him in the primary.

Except that would violate my rule of never, EVER, knowingly voting for a creationist.

"Ron Paul wins Iowa Republican organization's straw poll"

You know, "wins" isn't the right word there:

In the poll of 430 Iowans, Paul took 82 percent, followed by Herman Cain at 15 percent. All other Republicans polled at 1 percent or less.

More like crushes, destroys, smokes, demolishes, or my personal favorite because of the double entendre - humiliates.

A straw poll isn't a poll. It's a game, a party, a large barbecue on stilts that the press has constructed to make it look taller and of more importance.

Whether he switches party or not Ron Paul will keep running up until the actual election. He did it the last time and he is fairly much saying the same now.

Amazing. It's totally unprecedented for Ron Paul to win a straw poll. This will surely translate into a domination of Iowa's primary.

I think I've come up with the perfect word to describe the GOP right now.

Paul's astroturfers could make him win a "favorite ice cream" poll.

Republicans could never officially support a candidate with Ron Paul's foreign policy stance. War is one of their most basic beliefs.

I predict that he does no better in the actual caucuses than his 5th place finish in 2008

They won't. If Ron Paul got the nomination they would devote an hour of every day to selling gold and all of their pundits would talk about how Obama deliberately stationed troops overseas to make us vulverable to Evolutionists.

But then I am voting for Obama in the general election.

HAHA!

Ron Paul is the Time Cube Guy.

No matter what the problem is, they both have the magic, one-and-only solution that will always work no matter what. And if you ask them to explain how their solution is even remotely related to the problem, prepare for the most hilariously misinformed non-explanation you'll hear in your life.

The next GOP debate, its Cain vs Gingrich only! Oh that should be an entertaining watch!

I like how the site quotes "the lengthy verbal duel, with time for fully-developed answers not 30-second sound bites, was designed to circumvent the media's usual entertainment format, designed to produce TV news, gotchas and show off network stars as interrogators." I'm assuming Investors Business Daily leans a bit to the right, which might explain their not acknowledging how debate format and rules are handled entirely by the political parties in question and the moderators are virtually powerless when the pols veer wildly off-topic

Oh, and that "many candidates over the years have called for lengthier, more in-depth debate opportunities but very rarely has this come to fruition". Thats true enough... the candidates make these sounds with their mouths, then their campaign makes damn well sure that nothing in-depth is ever allowed.

He's not crazy, but he is quite corrupt and holds several policy positions that are morally and practically untenable in a functioning democracy (abolition of the separation of church and state, for instance).

But really I was taught creationism for 12 years and I can not think of a single classmate of mine who believed it. We were all just playing along for the sake of the narrative.

Yes, the brilliance of Doctor Paul and the ease with which he talks about complex topics is captured in a simple phrase....

1. Obama.
2. Obama.

Just because Paul has memorized his nutty talking points doesn't mean he's intelligent, it just means that he's dumb enough to believe that he's right.

Republican presidential candidate Rick Santorum has won the official endorsement of the National Federation of Republican Assemblies.

The group also gave Herman Cain its endorsement for vice president.

Gosh, I love our political system, and the time and money we waste perpetually with people running for office. Since I live in a state that doesn't have an early primary, I'm not going to decide who to vote for until the fine people in Iowa and New Hampshire tell me.

Presidential election campaigns are getting like department store Christmas displays-every year, they manage to creep in earlier and earlier. Can't wait for the GOP or Democratic debate in 2013 for the 2016 election.
