Metroid?

well, let's see. it's not exclusive to a particular platform, it's available on devices that are considered near necessities in today's culture (which means far more people than gamers have these devices) and the cost is a couple bucks.

yeah, sounds about right.

Nickleback is a popular band, despite the fact that they don't even bother hiding that they haven't written their own music in years (if ever).

Titanic was the highest grossing film of all time for 12 years, despite being a mediocre love story tacked onto a real-life event.

Jersey Shore is a popular TV show, despite the fact that there is not a single redeeming member among the entire cast (DISCLAIMER: or so I gather, I haven't watched it because I'm afraid of catching a retinal version of an STD. I did see the two allegedly most popular cast members show up at a TV "dance party" that was clearly a very lazy excuse to get those two in front of a camera, and they proved themselves to be worthless morons).

Things made to please the lowest common denominator will always be popular, and will never be GOOD.

Then it is fortunate for them that it's available on other platforms, such as Android phones, Chrome, and social media sites. I don't know if Facebook has it or not, but G+ does.

Angry Birds is easily the most overrated game of all time.

It's a simple artillery game. Those have been around forever.

media.tumblr.com

It's got bright and polished graphics, but that's about it. It doesn't really do anything that innovative. It gets boring pretty quickly. I just don't get its popularity.

I get the feeling he thinks that if you can't play the game with a keyboard and a mouse while yapping to your geek friends through a headset, its not a real game.

Mobile gaming firm Rovio said on Wednesday its hit game Angry Birds had reached a record 500 million downloads in less than two years since its launch.

Well, yah because it's effing FREE

You mean the "most popular" video game in history would be a video game made at that point in history that technological advances have made it possible to put cheap video game players in the hands of most of the population? I would have never ever guessed it would go down like that.

I admit that if I'm really deep into a book or a game, I'll set my laptop in front of the toilet so I just have to lean over.

Guess the most popular video game in history

Most popular game in history is sex. And if you're not using a video recorder, you're doing it wrong.

Will people still be playing it in 30 years?

People still play pac-man, and in its heyday people payed as much for a single session of pac-man as they do now for a copy of Angry Birds, adjusted for inflation.

Are they counting all the devices that have Angry Birds pre-installed on them, like the new Roku players? If so, they really need to give minesweeper and Solitaire a fair shake.

I recently got a new iPhone 4S, and downloaded some highly rated games.

While the graphics performance is really nice for a mobile gaming platform, I find that controlling a game with touchscreen only controls can be frustrating and sometimes a real PITA. The experience often makes me wish for the d-pad and buttons on my DS.

My experience has led me to believe that analysts predictions that smartphones will kill off true mobile gaming devices (like the DS and PSP) to be premature. Physical buttons are really needed for precise control and tactile feedback.

2011-11-02 02:33:41 PM
I was going to give that game a try then I heard that even if you buy it you still get the advertising banners so I decided to be the only person not playing it.
