I wonder if anyone's going to argue that the sales guys from Bob Tyler's Toyota have a right to their beliefs in this case. Obviously this is religious discrimination, right?

Spherical Time enjoys sex with rhesus monkeys. Constantly.

Hey, I have a right to my personal beliefs!

Suing for libel only PROVES that he's covering up that he's a super-Islamic terrorist.

/Probably an actual argument and that gives me a sad

Oh, he can believe whatever he wants, but when he tells unsubstantiated, destructive statements to the person's potential customers to the detriment of his business, that's libel.

Can't prove that he didn't funnel terror funds!

Esfahani, a naturalized U.S. citizen,

Damn, we need more of these and less clueless asshats harassing them.

Protip: Actual militants don't go to the bother of becoming naturalized citizens.

Can't anybody take a joke these days?

An Iranian in Alabama? What an age we live in!

Story also probably deserves a Florida tag.

"(Esfahani) is funneling money back to his family and other terrorists. I have a brother over there and what you're doing is helping kill my brother," the salesman told the couple when he called them on the Eastern Shore sales floor, according to the suit.

wat

I would have laughed in this guy's face and told him he's the worst farking salesman ever. I don't give a shiat about your brother, are you going to give me a better deal than the "terrorist"?

It is not. I resent that. Slander is spoken. In print, it's libel.

If it was in print it would be libel. Saying it is slander. Subby got that wrong too.

Free you horn with purchase!

The CIA funnels money to militants all the time, and that car I bought from the CIA car dealership, lightly beeps every 3 hours for some reason. Even though the salesman told me it was part of the GPS unit for the Onstar unit, that tells the dealer when my next service is, no matter where I am.

He was asking for it by being brown and still living in Alabama.

Why do you hate the troops and refuse to buy a Japanese car from a REAL American like every patriotic citizen should? What are you hiding?

Pretty sure I saw that in the Yahoo! comments on this article earlier today. I also saw a comment from someone I'm 99% sure isn't Native American telling everyone from other countries that they don't belong here. Yes, a nice reminder of the relatively academic tone of Fark compared to the general population of the 'tubes.

(Reuters) - The owner of a large southwest Alabama car dealership derided as "Taliban Toyota" by a competitor has been awarded $7.5 million in damages after a jury trial for his slander claim.

I have to say, my opinion of the American Public just rose ever so slightly today. To think, we can get 12 american citizens together and 12 of 12 weren't biased by bigotry in making a decision. And it happened in the South.

Kudos to you, Alabama.

Esfahani, a naturalized U.S. citizen, fled his native Iran in 1980 following the Islamic revolution that toppled the U.S.-backed Shah and swept Shi'ite Muslim clergy to power, his lawsuit said. He opened his car dealership in 2007.

The Taliban, by contrast, are hardline Islamists in the central Asian nations of Afghanistan and Pakistan who follow an austere interpretation of Islamic law.

This salesman on the other hand is scum. If I had to say something positive about him, it would be that he went above and beyond the call of duty when it came to reinforcing the sleazy car salesman stereotype.

long ago when i was thin wife wanted a (then new) Geo Tracker. impossible to find stock on a lot as they sold well early on we persevered. Saturn just hit the scene & had taken over a Suzuki dealership along with the left-overs. i stupidly stuffed my 6'-3" into a Samurai without sliding the seat back (?) and was unable to exit. wife & salesman vigorously pulled me loose to the pavement. what an arse. wife got an incredible deal on a Saturn. she wanted to trade me in, they threatened to raise the price of the sedan.
