Boy, ain't that the truth.

Incidentally, it looks like John Oliver wouldn't be able to capitalize on this (if any Farkers are also Buglers), since he just got married... maybe he can ask his wife for a menage a trois.

I'll probably call her up tomorrow and ask her out. I'd do it today, but I want to give her time to get over that whole marriage thing she had goin on.

Maybe now she'll reconsider those restraining orders.

Whenever I see a pic of her, I have the exact same reaction as I have to my mom's yappy pomeranian. I want to pick it up and cuddle it, then drop kick it across the room.

as much as i believe that pretty hate machine is one of the greatest albums ever, i'd rather see trent stay off the sh*t, thank you very much.

i've seen live footage from the 90s and i saw him live on the with teeth tour in 2005? 2006? and i think his performance was 10 times better overall when i saw him live than the live performances i've seen from the 90s. don't get me wrong, he wasn't bad then...there was energy, good musicianship, etc, but it all seemed sloppy on the 90s live footage.

besides (and i say this as the heterosexual male that i am) he is far hotter now than he was 20 years ago

The 90s NIN shows were over the top because people still saw synth and electronic music as being for New Wave losers.

NIN changed all that when Reznor and Jourgensen from Ministry started selling out concert halls, every record label under the sun tried to sign an "industrial" band.

And that's how we ended up with Stabbing Westward and Gravity Kills: mediocrity.

sw is pretty good, they just are far surpassed by nin

don't get me wrong, i love old nin...i just think their show is much much better now. and trent has been far more prolific in recent years...i think he's recorded & released more music since he cleaned up than he did before...certainly not taking 5 to 7 years between releases like he used to

and i say again PHM is an incredible work of art...the entire album...not a single bad thing on there

No, Zooeys husband, Ben Gibbard, is the frontman for Deathcab for Cutie and The Postal Service. Him from She and Him is in Monsters of Folk and was in Bright Eyes iirc.

This concludes this weeks Indie Rock lesson, for homework, everyone listen to Band of Horses, Cease to Begin.

Ben Gibbard is from Death Cab for Cutie and The Postal Service. TPS was a side project he did with some dude from another band, and is likely a one-off thing.

i love phm...the "starfarkers" one was a double cd that i for some reason can't remember the name of right now, and i thought it was a pretty good effort...think it could've been carved down to one cd's worth of music though. downward spiral was pretty good...3 or 4 super solid tracks, some other pretty decent songs, very little filler

Yeah, I think that can be said of most double cds throughout the ages - many good double cds could cut out the crap and be great single ones.

Right on. Pre-Zooey Deathcab pleases me more. The Postal Service also gave me some ear spasms. I have no real use for her...never heard her sing and not enough of a hipster to actually track down any She and Him tracks.

a few years ago near the end of my first marriage i had little else to do so i uploaded probably about 75% of my 1500 or so CDs to my hard drive. the fragile, phm, and downward spiral were among those i uploaded, in addition to the 10s of 1000s of songs i've downloaded over the years, and CDs belonging to my new wife that i've uploaded

she's got a pretty good voice. i liked her singing in the shower in "elf" and wish they would've released a version showing everything. yes i think she's hot, even though her eyes bug out a bit much in things like her closeup in "almost famous" when she's telling her brother some things before she leaves

lilplatinum: Yeah, I think that can be said of most double cds throughout the ages - many good double cds could cut out the crap and be great single ones.

... Do we include or exclude greatest hits albums? I'm really torn on this... but I think you're on to something. Also, what's the ruling on "disc A is all original material, disc B is a continuous mix of some of disc a, plus some music from other producers", because Ed Rush & Optical Wormhole and Black Sun Empire's Cruel And Unusual were, each, two CD's aces in my book...

Aphoticamy: never heard her sing and not enough of a hipster to actually track down any She and Him tracks.

they're going for a deliberately retro light-Pop style... I respect the approach but it does absolutely nothing for me, like a candy-bar.

/I did hear her sing a duet with Leon Redbone doing the old "Baby, It's Cold Outside" and her girlish vocals were a perfect counterpoint to Leon's throaty warbling (I mean that as a compliment, his voice is cool). In fact, that version ruined the song for me

Band of Horses is a wonderful band. Should NOT be in same sentence as Bright Eyes. Bright eyes sounds like a singing sheep if sheep could sing, and makes me want to punch a baby.

I listen to far, faaaaaaaar too much music, however. If that is even a thing, not sure.
