I'm not sure the US post office motto applies here.

how about:

In brightest day, in blackest night,
No evil shall escape my sight
Let those who worship evil's might,
Beware my power...

I don't know where you live, submitter, but seeing all the couriers 'braving' 2cm of grey slush a full week before Royal Mail postal deliveries resumed suggests to me that postmen are more than happy to be stayed by pretty much any excuse, however feeble.

Totally off topic but why is it the Royal Mail Service delivers the post but the US Post Office delivers the mail?

FTA: ROYAL Mail has stopped posties delivering letters on private unpaved roads over health and safety fears.

So put in mailboxes at the junction of the public and private roads, problem solved.

What is a cm? Is that some form of measurement?

Yes, it's one of the ones we use here in the 21st century.

"The roads aren't made up as we're on greenbelt land."

Let me see if I can translate this from British to American.

The roads aren't made up paved as we're on greenbelt landland within a zone that has environmental regulations that prevent paving roads.

So....it basically goes something like this?

1. Ban paving roads.
2. Ban delivering mail on unpaved roads.
3. Reject requests to pave roads due to #1.
4. Profit?

Don't bother, it's total bollocks. Not only can you pave any unadopted road which leads to a dwelling, the road in question is, in fact, metalled.
