Sounds like it never healed correctly and just kept rotting then regrowing at the same time. Would have to have the smell described or get a whiff to be definitive.

I knew a kid is school who dated a girl that made his fingers stink like that. I told him to stop, but the banging was just too much fun.

Good ole stink finger, I wonder if he ever became a gynecologist?
