Jail time went a long way to bringing Robert Downey Jr back from the edge and relaunching his career, hopefully the same would work out for her.

Of course, I'm more than a little doubtful she'll spend more than a day or two in prison.

You're too generous: It'll be a 6 hour incarceration tops.

Something needs to give, I'm sick of reading about her dodging any real punishment. We need her to disappear to San Quentin for a year or so, if nothing else than to force new content on TMZ

They really mean it this time.... no really... they really are serious about her not getting special....hey, why is everyone snickering?.....

You know how Iron Man brought Robert Downey Jr back into the spotlight? They should find a similar role for Lindsay Lohan.

She doesn't need a movie role. She needs to get sober first, just like Robert Downey Jr. did. Actually, the worst thing that could happen to her right now would be to get a movie role that brings her a lot of popularity.

Nah, she needs her own "Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang".

We need a laughing-stock older actress in a late-career crisis with actual serious acting chops and former sex-symbol status to play Val Kilmer's part. I nominate Gina Gershon.

California prisons are overcrowded for several reasons. People keep voting in tough sentencing laws. These require prisons & jails. No one wants prisons or jails near them. No prisons or jails are built. Rinse & repeat.

Don't say 'stick them in the desert'. We have enough crap coming here from the rest of SoCal without having even more of the prisons forced on us. Now, if the state & feds got serious about remanding Mexican nationals back to Mexico, the prisoner population would drop dramatically---probably by at least a third. But no one wants to enrage the Hispanic Vote, so they won't do that. Even though the legal immigrants want them gone.

She will go to jail for real when her money runs out.

But then nobody will care.

Let's instead change the tune from illegal immigration to non violent offenders.

Legalize drugs. All of them. Restrict them, tax them, profit off of them.

Those who go too far down te rabbit hole will face mandatory rehab.

Legalize prostitution. Regulate the trade, tax it, profit.

Lindsay will likely learn nothing from jail time. She needs good therapy and good rehab.

Put her in an evidence locker with a toilet paper tube and a few pounds of coke. Let her take care of herself.

Seriously, I don't want another penny of tax money being spent on this coont, she's not worth it.

What the hell are you doing on Fark? Don't you know there are real news stories out there?

You should pay attention only to C-SPAN and the top five or six national and international hard-news stories I approve of, and stop reading Fark altogether.

Or you could STFU and try to understand that other people are able to take in a variety of information from a number of sources, even if you're not.

Sabyen91: Meh, she didn't kill anybody yet. She isn't a violent offender.

FTFY.

She has two DUIs already. It's only a matter of time before she hurts somebody else while driving drunk again. She's also reportedly been in fights with people who stood between her and her next drink. So yes, she is a violent offender.

Lohan, like Downey jr., needs to touch bottom before she can get better. A good outcome is that happens before she commits vehicular manslaughter or cracks somebody's skull with a beer bottle. Right now, she isn't even close.

Until they stop putting other people away for drug posession crimes for multi-year sentences at the rate they currently are in Cali, they'll never have room in jail for her skanky ass.

I love it when attention-whores run smack into reality and get their come-uppance. In this case I'm referring to the prosecutors insisiting on jail time when there is no jail space.

Study it for yourself, but there isn't anyone doing hard time in the CA penal system for simple possession.

They put drunk drivers in prison after a 3rd or 4th offense. There's a lot of somewhat petty shiat for which you can get prison time in California. The thing is, you have to do it over and over and over again, or fark off your probation at least as bad as Lindsay Lohan has, or already have a rap sheet sufficient to make you subject to our fairly retarded "3 Strikes" law. Also, while marijuana enforcement is somewhat soft-pedaled here, if you get caught with 5 pounds of the shiat, and you had a gun, because robbery is a real risk if you have that much weed, you're getting a nominal 5 years. My general sense from working at a prison though, was that if those guys weren't casualties of the War on Drugs DEA Agents Say They Don't Use, they'd probably have become casualties of the War on Purse Snatching or something. The reality is that the education system is poor, the social safety net is poor, and repetitive stoop labor jobs for morons have all but disappeared. Where is there for them to go besides prison?

If you are making a legitimate attempt to convince me, you will need to do better than linking me to the entire California Health and Safety code without even highlights of the relevant portions. Moreover, doing independent research turned up an ACLU of Northern California press release just a few months ago claiming that 9,000 are in state prison for simple possession,
