Thought Dylan Jr. was in theater now. Or something.

So is the headline saying the only difference that we'll see is they're exactly the same as they used to be?

Oh yeah, that one band that had that one song. How did it go again?

cool story:

i was running sound at a club when cracker came through, supported by the wallflowers. cracker was guaranteed something like $2k and the wallflowers were guaranteed a hundred bucks (this is before they broke, obviously). the cracker guys show up in a van. the wallflowers show up in a full-on florida coaches tour bus.

bonus: the contract said we couldn't mention bob dylan anywhere on any marketing materials - yet when they started, the band sounded like rolling thunder 1975.

still, they were pretty good live, i must say. and dylan seemed to be a decent guy.

I like "Bringing Down the Horse". I think it's a good, solid album. So there.

Heard that Only Difference song when I was in the checkout aisle yesterday. Reminded me how exciting they were back in 97.

I also like Jakob's solo set from last year.

Hehe, I saw that tour. Would have been about '96 or so? Both bands were good.

Cool story time.

My first big concert where I got to go backstage was The Wallflowers opening up for The Counting Crows at Jones Beach. It rained that night and the show was delayed for like two hours, but while everyone else was waiting at their cars, I was playing basketball with Bob Dylan's grandson. I was 8 and I think he was around 5.

/Also met Jakob...whom I was in love with at the time.
//Sweetest guy ever.

Listen to any 90s themed channel on Sirius. They play them like they were relevant.

The Wallflowers made middling records for like 8 years but their last one, Rebel Sweetheart is an incredibly awesome rockfest.

Well, it's nice to see Jakob "DON'T CALL ME BOB DYLAN'S SON ASSHOLE!!" Dylan is back making a name on his own.

Love the Wallflowers... their first three albums are great. The first record featured almost all different band members, but it's the one that really has the most emotional resonance for me, though I heard it after Bringing Down the Horse. I was like 16-17 at the time and to tell you the truth, they were the reason I started buying Bob Dylan records... which of course changed my life inexorably... so there's that.

I think you're thinking of Jacob's older brother, who's an on-again-off-again director. Bob Dylan has something like four or five kids by his first wife and two by his second.

Saw The Wallflowers when they opened for Pearl Jam in 1998. Unfortunatly their brand of of mellow easy-listening rock totally sucked the energy out of the crowd by the time PJ took the stage. It was to the point where it took quite awhile before people really started getting into Pearl Jam's set.
