Those pilots deserve a medal. This is on par with the Miracle on the Hudson.

bhcompy: So we're like reverse Jews? Instead of everyone else hating on us we do it ourselves as part of a shell game?

That sounds like a normal Jew to me

Q. How many Polacks does it take to land a 767?

Man On Fire: Leeds: meddleRPI: What did the Italians do during both World Wars? They joined the winning team, whoever it was. What did the Poles do? We trained a farking bear to carry artillery shells.

Ummm. Italy was allied with Germany in WWII. Germany was NOT the "winning team."

and they defected to the Allies when it turned around. go read moar.

Pretty much this.

meddleRPI: beta_plus: hagar129: Are the polish really that stupid? Serious question here, great jokes but they aren't really stupid.

I always figured it was a Chicago thing - as in bashing the Irish was a Boston thing until Boston became overwhelmingly Irish.

It probably continues since Poles are white and christian it's OK to make jokes about them w/o getting in trouble w/the PC police.

Apparently in Britain the jokes are unheard of - Poles there are mostly noted for being excellent workers and their refugee fighter pilots saving the UK in the darkest days of the Battle of Britain.

/all the Poles I've met were very smart - as in quantitative PhD smart
//and the women are spectacular

Us Poles actually have propagated those jokes ourselves. This way, we get the rest of the world off our backs, giving us time to get real work done. When you run around pretending like your ancestors were the backbone of civilization, you get Greece and Italy.

What did the Italians do during both World Wars? They joined the winning team, whoever it was. What did the Poles do? We trained a farking bear to carry artillery shells.

This was you guys?

You know this because you've made emergency landings under both scenarios?

My point is that in both situations the pilots got the plane down without any loss of life.

They surrendered to us, yes. But when exactly did they fight alongside us?

Cite references if you want to pretend you know something about history that the rest of us don't know, jackass.
