Hell, DEATH hasn't stopped Tupac.

2003-10-01 11:54:42 AM
I don't know if you've already decided you dislike all hip-hop, but Common is nothing like that, if you're interested.

2003-10-01 11:55:31 AM
That last comment was for Zombie, whoops

2003-10-01 11:56:05 AM

The truest words ever written in this, or any other, Fark thread. Thanks for the reminder. Seriously.

Canadian rappers:

Tom Green used to rap with Organized Rhymes. Anyone remember them?

2003-10-01 11:56:17 AM
"...began sobbing as the verdict was read Tuesday "

Awwww C'Mon C-Murderer, buck up, little camper. Remember
you're keepin it real, it was all worth it. Now bend over.

2003-10-01 11:57:37 AM
Holy_Ell: Yeah, he sampled Curtis Blow's "These are the Breaks" for the bassline.

/the ultimate in music geekery

2003-10-01 11:57:58 AM
There was once a t-shirt that had a pic of Tupac with his name spelled backwards. Now that was irony.

/caput

2003-10-01 11:59:26 AM
Zombie: OK, that is pretty funny. Although I thought the word was "kaput"

2003-10-01 12:00:33 PM
Ah hell, I'm a spelling nazi now. That sux

Wow, weemill

You know a lot about rap.

You were right, I honestly had no clue what I was writing. I don't keep up with it.

Hehe, its mostly b/c i'm from new orleans myself. I love hip hop, i just don't like posers like C Murder. I respect people like Scarface who have been gangsters or who have lived a certain lifestyle, seen the dangers and talk about them, but i don't respect people who have absolutely nothing to say or any message at all. And worst of all, people w/ no message who do it badly. If you're going to suck, you should at least do it well. He is horrible all around!

WTF is your problem, bro?
You must be trolling.

2003-10-01 12:01:22 PM
You are telling me that Master P's little brother couldnt get the dream team??

Where is Jonny Cochrane when you need him?

Or should i say C- Lawyer?

2003-10-01 12:03:26 PM
Holy_ell

Shhh...don't remind everyone.

2003-10-01 12:07:48 PM
Why is this ironic?

/had to say it, especially this far down in the thread

2003-10-01 12:07:54 PM

All his album covers look like this. All the albums produced by Master P for his No Limit label looked like this. They were massively popular circa 1997-98, and I think they churned out about 1000 sonically identical records with different packaging.

So far, we have:

Mystikal - convicted of gang rape
C-Murder - convicted of murder

Excellent track record for this label!

droogmilk :

i was thinking that too. thanks for posting it.

i agree.

2003-10-01 12:09:01 PM
It's not, RickTheVote. It's just sort of an Alanisism.

/new words are fun

I'm a criminal, he's a criminal
She's a criminal, we some criminals
Wouldn't you like to be a criminal too?

2003-10-01 12:09:43 PM
By the way, why hasn't the "rap-is-an-authentic-art-form" crowd crawled out of the woodwork yet?

2003-10-01 12:10:11 PM

Bravo!

You mean there's no BC/Newfie rap wars going on?

Anyways, I hate rap, so as far as I'm concerned they can continue to off each other in record numbers.

I was born in Canada - give me BNL any day of the week.

2003-10-01 12:12:39 PM
I was the first to submit this with an "obvious" tag. Boo!

2003-10-01 12:14:25 PM
VoicesCarry: I think that crowd might be little more than me. Good point about No Limit though, considering that they originally came out with a "Stop the violence in rap" message.

Real violence, that is. Not lyrical violence.

2003-10-01 12:14:37 PM
Too bad it doesn read:
"began sobbing as the victim lie dying"
Instead of:
"began sobbing as the verdict was read"

Rap sucks

2003-10-01 12:15:13 PM
If his name was C-C he would've just run away.

I'm here.

If his name was C-Spot Run, he would have just humped the guy's leg.

2003-10-01 12:16:42 PM
shonblott: Well, it's more of a Toronto/Vancouver war. And it's not really a war it's like this:

"T-dot sucks."

"No, Van City sucks."

"Wanna get a beer?"

"Yeah."

Barenaked ladies were good, I dunno, after Born on a pirate ship, they lost their charm for me.

2003-10-01 12:17:03 PM
most deserving of obvious tag but didn't get it - ever.

I prefer the BNL older stuff as well, but they really haven't toured the states until the last 3-4 years or so.

And they put on one hell of an entertaining live show, I've seen them 3 times.

/ranging further and futher off thread topic

No need to speak the obvious. I'm a big fan of Talib Kweli, Common, Mos Def, BEP, and yes, even Eminem (i figured i'd throw that in here to catch some trolls).

2003-10-01 12:23:56 PM
I just skimmed the posts, so this may be repeat post. Apparently, C-Murder tried to use a cell phone from jail to intimidate witnesses. What a dumb azz.

Hilarious SP reference.

/wonders if widely unknown keyboardist Koool G Murder of Eels will meet a similar fate.

G-Murder!

Nah, he would have just gone to the nearest Music Factory for sanctuary.

/also scribbles Alanisism into back of dictionary.

weemill: I stand corrected.

Don't forget the OTHER element of Hip-Hop: MF Doom, Dan The Automator, Kid Koala, and... the NEPTUNES and TIMBALAND!

My favorite nas song, i think, is 'one mic.' One mic, one beat, I'm a happy camper.

I love the tunes, and Timbo! I'm just a bigger fan of Dre.

Even eminem's production, while repetitive, the sound twists are spectacular. Its like the Anti-Beat.
