I hate almost everything about Utah politics, but I liked Huntsman.

He told the mormons, banks, unions, and almost every other special interest to fark off when he thought it was in the best interest of the state. On the same hand, he worked with each of these groups and many others when he thought it was in the best interest of the state.

He didn't seem bought by anyone, seemed to have a spine, and most importantly (to me) seemed to govern (and be governed) by principles.

Me saying that about an (R) in Utah politics is monumental.

That's been a weird talking point on this site for the past couple of weeks. I'm forced to ask...do you people know his actual positions on...like...anything?

Yes, he was cool with same-sex unions. Meanwhile, he wanted to cut taxes across the board and is looking to restrict abortion.

I swear, it's like every democrat wants to feel loved and admired by conservatives and they'll bend over backwards to move right at every opportunity.

He was an excellent ambassador to China, and I say that as someone who wouldn't normally appreciate a Utah politician. The Chinese tried (and failed) to get their own Twitter Revolution going a while back, and Huntsman just "coincidentally" showed up at one of their Twitter flash mobs and strolled through the scene, sending an unspoken message to the demonstrators that the US was watching and tacitly supporting them. Pissed the Chinese government off like you would not believe, but I salute him for having some big ol' brass ones to do that.

I wish he'd just stayed in that role - he had to know that the Republican party has gone too far into full retard territory for him to have ever had a chance.

I think it is when he says things like: "Only Afghanistan can save Afghanistan. All I want is for America to save America."

I'll take a republican who cuts taxes if he also stops the DoD from national building. I don't like his views on abortion but unless a few SCOTUS members die or retire what the president thinks about the issue doesn't matter as much as other things.

I feel that it is sad that a politician that is actually worldly, that doesn't base his platform and campaign exclusively on fear, and that has a history of both executive work and foreign policy is a RARITY, and furthermore gets taken down by his own party for being worldly and Mormon. I'm not saying I'd vote for him but he's at least worth a listen for not using his highly intelligent mind to pander completely to idiots.

The current president can barely get congress to fund the FAA despite the $millions/day it was losing to not fund it... do they think that Huntsman or Romney could surreptitiously get a Mormon theocracy past them? Really?

Oh, back on topic: yeah those chicks are hot.
