Lebanese TV host Ali Hussain Sibat, who was sentenced to death over making predictions of the future on his show, had been scheduled to be beheaded on Friday.

You can do that?

If this was happening in Iran, Americans would be freaking out about it and declaring that we have to go to war with them.

Can we now freak out and declare it's time to go to war with them?

The charity had campaigned on Abdul Hamid's behalf following his arrest and had urged Saudi Arabia's King Abdullah to prevent his execution.

Barking up the wrong tree. He has no authority over the religious police.

We have former witches as senate candidates. What's the difference?

'That he should have been executed without having committed anything that would appear to constitute a crime is yet another deeply upsetting example of why the Saudi Arabian government should immediately cease executions and take steps to abolish the death penalty.'

Actually it sounds like fraud. He was entrapped, but committing fraud.

Beheadings, in MY Saudia Arabia?

If any of you are a bit behind on this whole Saudia Arabia/Human Rights-kinda thing, lemme sum it up for you:

They have the OIL and therefore can do whatever the fark they want.

The people we accuse of Human Rights Violations lack such subtleties as Rich Petroleum Reserves and Atomic Weaponry.

That guy is from Lebanon, so its not like he didnt know what he was getting into. You also don't see much crime there.

I say let them cut off whatever heads they want.

Not sure what is scarier, that a country still considers "sorcery" a capital offense, or that there is a religious police that cannot be controlled by a country's rulers.

Can we send Sally Morgan and all the other self-professed psychics/clairvoyants to take this rigorous test too? They obviously don't want a million dollars, I'm sure a beheading is a much better prize.

So then timeline wise they are up to around 1855-1905 in terms of their culture. I think that's giving them too much credit.

It's a farked situation. It's a split power between the Saud and Al-Shaykh families. The Al-Shaykhs control the religious police, national guard, and most domestic and all religious power. The Sauds deal with foreign affairs and trade. The King could try to over rule the sentence, but he would be over stepping his boundaries. It's like asking Obama to go over rule a Supreme Court decision. The Al-Shaykh family are wahhab assholes. When protests were going on over there earlier this year, the people were actually stating in their demands that the king be given more power over the other ruling family. They know who is oppressing them.

And a significant portion of our country believes in a magical old man in the sky who tells us that everyone needs to work hard and people who don't deserve not to have health care and to die if they get cancer (which is their own fault for being morally unsound).
