I'm going to go ahead and assume those are all made in China.

And probably leak mercury, or something toxic.

If you're going to copy the iPod, at least make the device an MP3 player and not some fun that will probably leave you in a sweaty, angry rage after it comes broken out of the box. Fortunately, it has non-functional "back" and "forward" buttons...NOT!

you're really going to lead your blog pots with a spelling error and a "not" joke - 1990 called and it wants its joke back!

I bought a cube from Korea which I called a jPod. It lasted all of 2 months before freaking out.

Saw a homeless guy the other day pull out a weird bulky iphone looking device. Turned out he was having a serious conversation with a sandle.

I was expecting the iPad on that list.

A lot of those are used for prizes in Japanese crane machines. When you realize they're supposed to be worth 100 yen and parody goods it makes a lot more sense.

At a mall near my home (Maplewood Mall in MN, not exactly a shiatty place) there is a skill game filled with what appear to be iPod Nanos. When I went in for a closer look it was painfully obvious they were grey market iPods with a similar name. I took a few pictures but the machine is brightly lit and all white so they came out poorly.

I remember several years back, when I was sharing an apartment with a roommate, he returned one day with a Dell DJ mp3 player, like this one:

I still recall him showing it off, confidently asserting that "these are going to be bigger than iPods soon."

I think Dell discontinued them a few months later.

One of the great sources of amusement I've had over the last 5 years is watching people declare this or that device an iThing killer, and watching aforementioned device fail miserably.

Someday...

Eh, my Zune blew the pants off my 10 Gb iPod (still use the Zune software on my PC for organizing and playing my music collection.)

Never had an iPhone, but my HTC Incredible and HTC Thunderbolt are pretty great, though ultimately I liked my WM6 Samsung SCH-i760 more than any other phone I've ever owned.

Lack of widespread adoption and massive marketing doesn't mean the device has "failed miserably," it means that the company sucked at selling it.

If Apple had called the iPhone HiPod instead, I might actually have bought one.

So in that way, they're almost authentic then, no?

No mention of this?

I had one of these. 15gb and cheaper than the iPod at the time. I actually loved that thing.

The last one resembled a domo-kun. Which would have validated it's existance.

I may not be an MBA but I'm pretty sure that's what it means.

I have a couple of iFans. Yeah, the name is stupid and making them look like iPods is kind of cheesy, but they are great little fans. They hang around your neck and blow air up to your face. Wearing one is about the only way I've survived 4th of July parades in Houston.
