As far as the contraceptives go - I actually don't know anybody on oral contraceptives anymore. We are all a bit older, and in most of our cases, it's not required (due to same sex relationships). Never really took them myself, so can have no comment on the side effects at all. Kinda sad though that preventing babbies makes sex less desired and enjoyable.

Progesterone, actually. Some BCPs have both estrogen and progesterone, but others contain only progesterone. Progesterone can have a very bad negative effect on some women's mood.

I agree that if the decision is made to not have kids or if you're finished having them, then the best birth control method is vasectomy. This is also why it is better to not wait until you've been married 10 years to start a family. Women should never be on BCPs for more than five years without taking a year or two off and using a different method.
