At least he didn't stick a remote up his own ass.

The beating I would have received from an incident like that would have been truly epic.

2011-11-01 11:21:17 AM
Yeah, my mom would have cleaned my clock for that kind of shiat.

2011-11-01 11:22:53 AM
Heh, my mom would have abandoned me to the wolves had I thrown a second tantrum. Geez.

2011-11-01 11:25:57 AM
Kudos to her for (I assume) not giving in.

Kids in my neighborhood would later speak in hushed voice as they recalled hearing about how I died in the Supermart that day.

I heard his mom literally smacked his head off...I mean it flew into the housewares department and everything.

2011-11-01 11:30:41 AM
back in the day your mom would take you back to the car, beat your ass and then you'd both go back to the store to finish shopping after you stopped crying.

2011-11-01 11:30:44 AM
Pokemeltdown.

I see that he sees the camera.

I'd be more ashamed of being a grown-ass man caught discussing yugioh cards in public...

I saw no grown-ass men in this video. Only a screaming child, a woman, a young girl and two not grown-ass men.

when I was 6 I flipped out in a Piggly-Wiggly over some ridiculous thing.
I yelled, I flailed and generally tantrumed like a little biatch the whole way out of the store and to the station wagon.

I don't remember what exactly happened after we got to the car, but the one thing i do remember was the look of unadulterated vengeance my mother had in her eyes and she locked the doors.

2011-11-01 12:41:35 PM
And that's why God created beatings.

Ah, thank you. That makes a whole lot more sense to me now.

For the last 9 years the familly was Jehovas Witnesses and he finally gets to pick one present for his birthday. But his moms new boyfriend spent all their money on meth. In blind fury and disappointment, he runs out of the store and doesn´t see the delivery truck that kills him. Thus David never got a present.

Much funnier when adults do that.

Looking forward to Black Friday.

If i recall, wasn't that all fake? Aren't there more of the same kid not getting the BMW for his birthday but a $200 beat up ford ranger?

I didn't know people still played Pokemon.

Agreed! Walk out of the store, give him nothing, do not reward that behaviour. SOooo many parents need to learn that. Good job.

2011-11-01 01:28:08 PM
Hey, good for the mom for not giving in. Kid definitely needs to learn to grow up though. Unless there's something mentally wrong with this little shiat head, he needs a serious smack upside the head.

2011-11-01 01:33:41 PM
This is a sign of good parenting. It's a shame that escorting him out by his ear is no longer considered appropriate.

What's the cost of aborting a 7yr. old?

2011-11-01 01:52:43 PM
I hope their is a video when he is grown and married and reacts the same way to his wife when she refuses him something. It'll be exacerbated by alcohol and maybe meth and he'll probably beat her, in front of their children and...wait, nevermind I don't want that video.

This kid is a train on the wrong track heading towards a huge accident. If he only destroys himself, society will be lucky. And mom did nothing great. Whether nurture, or nature, this brat's parent/s are the largest reason why he is a giant piece of crap now, heading for the dookie hall of fame as he grows.

And yea...in the 70s when I was a kid my mom would have dusted me up in that store, on the way out, in the car and back at home. I wouldn't have pushed it to those limits because the first time she memacingly said 'Do we need to go to the bathroom?' where the first of public discipline was begun, I would have shut the hell up.

2011-11-01 01:59:32 PM
If that was my kid, the movie would be titled, "there will be blood."

2011-11-01 02:05:26 PM
I would have also received an epic beatdown. I remember someone denting the fridge we had in our garage after me and my siblings had been warned to be careful around it.

That was a dark day.

2011-11-01 02:21:07 PM
Why was that guy video recording?

2011-11-01 02:22:34 PM
That kid is way too old to be throwing a fit like that. I hope he got a beating when he got home.

2011-11-01 02:22:44 PM
My child would have experienced first hand how difficult it would be to breathe with a hand around his throat.

My kids respond quite well to counting to three or me just saying "you know I can give you a time out anywhere right?"

Der Poopflinger: My kids respond quite well to counting to three or me just saying "you know I can give you a time out anywhere right?"

My brother decided to test this once. When my dad told us to go to bed, he said no. So my dad approached him and said, "I'm giving you to the count of three. One...two..." And then my brother suddenly said, "Three!" and lightly tapped his own behind with his hand, as if taunting the authority figure towering over him.

Like I said, he tried it once.

If I had thrown a tantrum like that, there would have been a little burnt spot on the floor where I had been standing. My Moms wooden spoon was so fast the friction would have lit me on fire long before I felt the pain.

/I still wet myself at 38 when my wife pulls out a wooden spoon to cook.

2011-11-01 04:05:33 PM
So I was all set to post about how this kid was way too old to be throwing this kind of tantrum, but amidst this indecipherable roaring issuing from his pie hole I heard, "You promised me!" If the mom promised the kid a Pokemon, she's kind of a biatch for reneging. You don't promise your kid something and then change your mind AT THE FRIGGING TOY STORE.

//only counts if she used the word "promise" though
//kid is still too old to throw that kind of tantrum

2011-11-01 04:07:45 PM
My son doesn't throw bad tantrums, and the ones he does have are few and far between (lucky me). If he starts to go off in a public place and doesn't calm down after the normal warnings, I just throw him over my shoulder like a sack of potatoes and go about my business. He's 4 and I can still do that.

His mama, however, isn't as easy to deal with. I can't get her up there.

But seriously, she'll light him up in a store in a minute. Could be why he is usually well-behaved.

usernameguy: Why was that guy video recording?

They were filming specifically to capture the kid's meltdown. The cameraman actually says, "Get in the way. At least PRETEND."

My mother counted to 3 once.......once.

My kids seriously misbehaved in the store once. They learned fast never to do that kind of thing in my presence ever again.

Abstinence is suddenly very attractive to me right now.

ahh, the wooden spoon. my mom had the slotted variant for less wind resistance.

shastacola: But she promised.

Well, in his defense, it really IS a dick move to take your kid to a toy store, promise him a toy, and then just leave without buying anything. Not tantrum-worthy, but I bet this kid grows up, has kids, and tells his kid this story, and of course never does what his mom just did to him.

//still too old for that tantrum in public

2011-11-01 04:47:11 PM
Good for the mom for sticking to her guns, but...

In my experience, when a kid that old acts like that, he's doing it because he knows it's going to work. Kids are manipulative little farks, and they understand (at least intuitively) positive and negative reinforcement. If, when they're young, they get what they want when they throw tantrums ("...here you go, just please be quiet...you're embarrassing me..."), they'll continue doing it. If they don't get results from tantrums (or if they get unpleasant results), they're not going to still be throwing tantrums at that age. Whenever I see a "older" child throwing a tantrum in public, I like to keep an eye on the situation and see how long it takes for him to get what he wants. Usually, not very long.

But, maybe this Mom held her ground. I hope so.

/The above may or may not apply to disabled kids.
//Add me to the list of those who would have died a sudden and painful death if I'd have tried this at that age (but it never would have happened because my parents had me "trained" long before that).
