less than lethal?

Brothers went over to a treadmill where another man was working out, increased the speed of the machine and punched the man in the face, said Colonie Police Chief Steven H. Heider.

That is so wrong, and a great visual.

Isn't it odd how the presence of police so often causes video equipment to malfunction? Wonder why that is...

I'm not questioning their actions in this specific case, just commenting on the odd coincidence that cameras don't seem to work with police around.

"A single shock from a Taser can contain up to 50,000 volts of electricity"

What that's not telling you is the 50k is only used to make a connection. Once the connection is made, it drops to 5k or so.

Is 6"1', 230 that scary and roided up? I know guessing BMI is dirty but even at a lean 8-10% fat, I don't think he would be that hulk like.

They describe this guy as huge and angry. The BMI does not convince me.

Capacitance. Electricity follows the path least resistance and highest conductivity.

Limited bursts disperse into the conductive path and your capacitance decreases as more is applied.

Voltage doesn't usually kill you, but amperage will. PSA ↓

Steroids shrink your balls and turn you into a violent jerkoff, but you look like, all badass for the ladies you can't please.

Indeed. "A single static shock from a dry carpet can contain upto 30,000 volts of electricity". But no one ever died from static shock..

He was tossing 45 lb dumbells across the room like tennis balls, and tipping over weightlifting equipment that weighed 700+ pounds.
The initial responding cop was a woman, who tasered him twice and he was still coming and throwing boxes at her. Then lifted HER off the ground when she was trying to handcuff him.
The TV news had interviews of other patrons present; dude was going apeshiat.

I will not be surprised when the autopsy confirms steroids. This is like textbook case of 'roid rage.

Yeah man.. like, there's no video of the shiat that went down in Oakland, man.

Not everything is a conspiracy, you idiots. What's really amazing is how the police are complete dumbasses when it comes to everything but cover-ups.

That said, it is a tragedy that there is no video of this.

Who said anything about a conspiracy, moron? Do you think it's a conspiracy that many crooked accountants keep two sets of books? They're in similar jobs and doing similar obvious things, must be a conspiracy, huh?

So, the moral of the story is: Don't use the juice, or you'll get the juice.

2011-11-01 03:27:59 AM
The guy was probably juicing, but roid rage, especially as people envision it, doesn't really exist. Elevated testosterone levels increase the chances of violent behavior, but people who go through these "roid rages" are almost always people who have a history of mental illness, or other factors, that increase their likelihood of violent behavior.

I think the autopsy will also confirm that he was high on cocaine, or meth. Those are way more likely to cause unbalanced people to do ragey sh*t. Especially the meth.

I have a much better idea than you do, apparently. A conspiracy is a plot by two or more people to break the law. That was off the top of my head. Let's see what dictionary.com has to say:

con·spir·a·cy
/kənˈspɪrəsi/ [kuhn-spir-uh-see]
noun, plural -cies.
1.
the act of conspiring.
2.
an evil, unlawful, treacherous, or surreptitious plan formulated in secret by two or more persons; plot.
3.
a combination of persons for a secret, unlawful, or evil purpose: He joined the conspiracy to overthrow the government.
4.
Law. an agreement by two or more persons to commit a crime, fraud, or other wrongful act.
5.
any concurrence in action; combination in bringing about a given result.

So, no definition of conspiracy fits disparate police officers destroying video evidence to protect themselves. Gee, which one of us called that a conspiracy again? Oh, right, you did. Well, I'm sure you're used to being completely wrong, so this latest example of that probably won't bother you too much.

From the article "Brothers then went into an office, where he ripped computers from the wall and toppled file cabinets, Heider said. "

A more likely reason that there is no video of the cops subduing the suspect is the computers in the office that were used to record the surveillance video were ripped out by the suspect during his freak out.

No, I don't think that's it at all. I think that police exude some type of electrical or magnetic field which interferes with recording devices. That seems far more likely to me.

You know, Farkers make such a big deal of the event when it happens, but we rarely consider how it affects the people involved later on, even years afterward.

A couple of decades from now, it's going to hit him all of a sudden. That guy is going to stop, think about what happened, and then think to himself "Man, that was a shiatty day."

Well the guy did start ripping computers out of the wall of an office before police got there. One could have been the camera one. Just saying.

Also I can see the cardiac arrest could have been caused by the steroid abuse or maybe PCP. Either way the guy was insane.

I'm 6'1". When I was 215, I was still pretty skinny. 15 extra pounds would not have made people cower at the sight of me.

Don't underestimate these guys; Hulk-like or not, someone who's already that strong and then goes into a rage is the worst possible scenario as far as physical confrontation is concerned. My man D is a power-lifter who's about 5'9" and 220 or so, and the amount of strength he's got on a normal day is astounding; if he started doing roids and went into a rage, or hell even an adrenaline rush, I absolutely believe he'd easily be able to take down someone twice his size.

First, disparate? Second, as far as I'm aware, police destroying video evidence would be considered a crime, so.. wouldn't that be, by your own defininition (see #4, above), a conspiracy? Third and finally, you are clearly insane.

Between the taser, the presumed steroid or other drug abuse, high blood pressure and his conniption fit... it's more than likely enough to cause a heart attack or aneurysm. That would have been one helluva sight to behold.

My landlord works out in the basement of my apartment. He's twice my age, ~60, but lifts some mean, farking weight. I can hear him down there... sounding like is jerkin his gherkin something fierce. On top of that, I can smell the Ben-gay wafting through the heating vents. When I went down there to do my wash, I noticed a shop vac next to the weight bench. Apparently, he left craters in the concrete from letting the free weights drop, hard. What an idiot. I can't stand farking meat heads. Farking retards. I've tried to have a conversation with him, and I'm certain I could have a better conversation with joint compound.
