Yes, they should judge me as a man who wants a cup of coffee, black with no room for milk. I kind of think they like me for it.

2011-10-31 10:15:35 PM
So, they work at Starbucks but still feel they're in a position to judge other people?

Newsflash here people -
People that wait on other people generally hate most if not all their customers, no matter how much they are being paid. It' never enough.
This is another reason that it's never a good idea to be a regular anywhere.

2011-10-31 10:37:12 PM
Who cares what they think? They are the lowest of the low. Gypsies, Baristas, and Belgians. BURN THEM ALL!

Everyone, in every job around the world, hates:

1) their bosses
2) their clients

That thought makes me so sad... I love my customers and go to places where I feel like my patronage is welcomed.

I'll take an Americano, black, please.

iamrex: I'll take an Americano, black, please.

Big into black americanos, eh? heh

Anyway, it turns out people judge other people at first glance as a part of their nature, no matter if theyre behind a counter slingin coffee or not. No kiddin.

Nescafe, splash of cream, 1 sugar cube. Total price about 20 cents.

Judge that, motherfarker.

Why would I care about the opinion of a barely employable english major?

2011-10-31 11:53:03 PM
Oh no, not judgment!

I usually order with no room for cream, because for some reason about half the baristas I've ever seen interpret "room for cream" as "leave 1/3 of the cup empty". Who is making a 2/3 coffee, 1/3 H&H mixture?

Oh yeah, and hooray for the return of pumpkin-spice-whatevers in coffee-houses everywhere!

My dad ordered a cup of coffee at a cafe once. The barista was about to launch into all the options, saw the look on my dad's face, and got a cup of black coffee quickly without any more words.

Dark coffee with two aspartame packs. I'm happy.

A flavored frappuccino is nice once in a long while, but they're basically milk shakes.

2011-10-31 11:54:27 PM
I think that's why I love Tim Horton's so much - nothing but Phillipino women and Ethiopian men and all they serve is coffee. You can order whatever the hell you want, but you're just getting a cup of coffee.

Medium/Grande Americano, room for cream, normally. Funny dessert flavors are for dessert, not for caffeine.

2011-10-31 11:55:55 PM
I don't get the hate for bosses/customers. I like/respect my boss. While interviewing for jobs I've always been interviewing my would-be boss just as much as they are interviewing me. I don't want to work for someone I don't like/respect.

As for the customers, some can be real pricks. Most are not. If you really hate your customers, then you need to move on to another job. They are the reason you're getting paid. If you hated your customers at every job you've worked, then you are the problem, not them.

It depends on the place in question. A pub on an off night is pretty nice, when there are only ten other customers and most are in the back. Great for watching a sports game or talking with the bartenders.

Jesus! This is why I never go to Starbucks or any other coffee-snob establishment.

I brew my own coffee at home in the Mr. Coffee and if you think that's bourgeois then you can suck it. It tastes just fine because I buy good beans via mail-order.

Get a life, people.

I like a mocha. You know why? Because chocolate fking tastes good.

And I like whipped cream on it. You know why? Because whipped cream fking tastes good. And it makes me feel like a kid.

Make fun of me all you like, coffee-slinger. You're busting your ass making my coffee. I'm sitting on my ass drinking it.

Not hardly. It is far more cost effective to buy a $20 coffee maker and a large tub of Folgers, instead of buying individual cups of coffee from anywhere. Not bourgeois at all.

I don't get it. If people want to be coffee snobs, why do they focus on the milk/sugar/coffee ratio instead of the kind of coffee?

Maybe bougeois wasn't the pretentious French term I was looking for. Maybe I meant declassé or infra-dignitatem. (Latin)

I use a beautiful Danish designer coffee press I found at a thrift store for three bucks and the best kona beans I can buy. Fark Starbucks.

Damnit, iPhone

As I was saying, I would have to ask for extra room because they would only leave a sliver of space. Not enough for a packet or half and half

I'm not picky about coffee. Heck, I used to eat instant coffee crystals to save on time during college, so anything they give me is fine.

Also, I concur with this wholeheartedly:

If I'm out then it's Dunks. I don't get the good coffee like I did at the local cafès back at university and I have to sit at home to enjoy home brewed coffee.

I'll get Starbucks at Target or Barnes and Noble but BnN overdoes it and the local Target does have Starbucks yet

I don't want to be a snob about it, but I just don't understand why people add milk to good coffee. It changes the flavor. You can't really taste the coffee if there's milk in it.

I only add milk if it's really bad coffee or instant.

I disagree to some extent. Fast food places, or other places where you're in for a brief amount of time, yea all customers suck. But a restaurant or a bar and you're a good tipper and not much of a hassle of a customer, being a regular is fine.

I mean really don't they know they are serving some of the worst coffee in the world. If I didn't want my caffeine high hidden in caramel or white chocolate flavor, I'd brew up Folgers and dose it with Vanilla coffee mate at home.
$4 dollars for a cup of coffee, I can make a pot of Kona for that or 3 pots of a Kona blend. For $4 dollars a cup they should be able to serve real Jamaican Blue Mountain. Gets you high and tastes great also.
