I'm sure there are a lot of people who don't know who she is. Harry Potter isn't exactly the greatest thing ever written.

2011-10-31 09:17:04 PM
Yeah, it's not like it's the biggest grossing book and movie franchise EVER.

2011-10-31 09:17:28 PM
Just because someone doesn't keep up on pop culture and reads 'bestsellers' doesn't make them stupid.

Though in this case I'll say yes.

PJRart: Yeah, it's not like it's the biggest grossing book and movie franchise EVER.

And Twilight is right behind it.

I bet she doesn't know who Terry Rossio is, either. Why do we let this woman live?

I didn't know who the second one was either and couldn't give a flying fark who Oprah's BFF is.

just kidding.
I'd like to take this opportunity to point out to the semi-literate internet crowd of parrots that simply expressing an opinion that deviates from the majority is not "trolling"... hm. I'm actually somewhat impressed that she doesn't know who J.K. Rowling is. I wish I could believe that she instead spends her time curled up with some Dickens, but suspect that is not the case. Even if it were, smart money would bet that she had simply misunderstood the offer.

Yes, a glorified rape-fantasy vampire fan-fiction is comparable to Harry Potter. Totally.

If Steven Hawking were still alive he probably wouldn't know who she was either and he invented the atom.

There are plenty of other reasons to help yourself feel superior to Snooki without adding "She doesn't even know this famous children's book writer!" to the pile.

Theme at the heart of Harry Potter: Love conquers all.

Theme at the heart of Twilight: Men are monsters who crave young flesh.

I'm 33, so I'm older than the crowd that grew up reading Harry Potter and never got into the books or movies. If someone says "J.K. Rowlings" without referencing "Harry Potter". I think "Dude that voiced Cave Johnson and appears in the Farmers Insurance ads."

Do you read much? I have a hard time believe anyone who reads more than 40-50 books a year wouldn't know who JK Rowling is even if they never read Harry Potter.

The average person having some kind of awareness of Harry Potter? Sure. Well, at least probably. That same average person knowing the name of the author? Nope.

I am way out of the mainstream. My son was more interested in the Angry Video Game Nerd. I still know who wrote Harry Potter.
