Seems pretty cute.

Why haven't people tried to domesticate them?

2011-10-31 10:05:22 PM
A 40lb raccoon? What the fark has it been eating? Small children?

Don't be fooled. Raccoons are ruthless killing machines.

Try petting a 40lb raccoon and see how "adorable" it is.

2011-10-31 10:06:45 PM
Coon should be charged with burglary.

They carry rabies, they're vicious, and they carry rabies.

/Did I mention the rabies?

2011-10-31 10:07:18 PM
I would kiss it if it wouldn't rip my face off.

2011-10-31 10:08:40 PM
The raccoon was taken into the forest and released back into the wild.

Lol. that's like taking someone from Manhattan and dumping them in a forest.

That raccon is gettin fat off of dumpster diving not catching food in the wild that's for sure.

I don't trust anything that climbs out of storm drains.

I'm guessing cat/dog food, garbage, and "leftovers" from humans who like to feed wild animals.

We have a couple that turn up on our porch to raid the catfood from time to time. They're kinda cute, but I never realized how freakin huge they were in real life. Definately wouldn't want to tangle with one that was pissed off.

Family next door say they've lost everything to burglars. Pink hippopotamus and wheelchair-bound turtle seen fleeing the premises.

There's a HUGE on that lives in my yard. He's not adorable in the least. Miss Kitty doesn't think much of him either, and he cares not a whit.

Coming home to find one of these in my bathtub might just be enough to make me shiat myself. These things are huge and vicious. Very bitey and scratchy, these ones.

2011-10-31 10:17:46 PM
I was outside work, on a smoke break. 3 of the bastards snuck up on me. My ass slammed shut, as we're in the heart of rabies season. They were just juveniles, who had probably never seen a person before. Sadly, I had no camera on me. They were cute, and not rabid.

If it's that friendly doesn't that usually mean it has rabies?

2011-10-31 10:21:56 PM
Damn if I found a 40 pound raccoon sitting in my tub it would mean dinner for two and a new hat, and already being in the tub is a bonus as that means easier clean up after the gutting/skinning.

/although one that big would have a hard time fitting into the tub next to that engine block I have been rebuilding.

If I find a raccoon and take pictures of it, I too can be in the news? Might leave my door open just for fun.

I just barfed all over my keyboard from this corny cuteness, subby.

2011-10-31 10:33:30 PM
i once had a full grown raccoon come up from behind me when i was preparing food in a campground... the little bastich stood behind me hissing as hard as he could - he wanted to get his paws on the food and i was in the way. i wish i had a picture of the look on his face when i turned around, puffed up, and HISSed back at him (i learned how to hiss from my cats). by the time i was letting out my third HISS he was running as fast as his stumpy lttle legs would take him and climbed the nearest tree to escape me. and he didn't come back.

/just glad he didn't call my blustery bluff
//raccoons are not your friends

Once a wild animal gets a taste of the good life, they will never go back to being a wild animal. That coon will be back.

Had the opportunity to raise a couple babies that were orphaned by a truck when they were still tiny little things hanging to their mum. When they're about this age, they're cute and fun as hell. Unfortunately they turned pretty aggressive around 6 months so we turned them loose in the woods.

They can kill a large dog. And they often kill cats.

Which kind of puts a damper on any "coonerday" threads.

Perhaps he needs a hair of the dog that he bit.

Yeah, 'coons are real adorable when they're killing and eating your cats (new window, NSFW or cat lovers photos in article)

/once had to chase off a 'coon that was trying to get one of his own cats
