The episode of the X-files with the inbred family, and geeked-out mom that they kept under the bed was pretty farked up. I think they only showed it once.

The Garfield one scared the crap out of me when I was a kid.

I dispute Unsolved Mysteries being a non-scary show. The opening theme still freaks me out.

My wife was making her way through Doctor Who on Netflix. I had already seen all the episodes and was waiting for her to catch up. I told her to stop so that we could watch "Blink" together.

She's still creeped out and is now scared of statues.

My husband has been a Doctor Who fan since the Tom Baker years and made an observation about Blink: For DECADES, DW has operated on a shoestring budget, trying to make scary aliens & monsters w/prosthetics, rubber masks, and bad 70s/80s CGI. Then it gets rebooted with practically a blank check and the new Doctor Who's scariest monster? Marble statues.

The old writers were probably kicking themselves after they watched that episode.

In related discussion, WTF was last night's Family Guy? A very special episode?

The Stargate: Atlantis episode "Whispers" freaked me out. Something about zombies and fog is always fun.

I'm still glad "Blink" made the list, but I'm more squicked out by this guy than any statues:

That's nothing.

Once, Garfield took part in a kitty version of "The Plague Dogs". (new window)

It's always amused me that Jack the Ripper had the voice of Piglet.

That, and how nobody questioned Scotty's constant blackouts.

Glad to see Garfields Halloween Adventure at #1. Scared the ever loving crap out of me when I was a wee one.

Hahahaha came in to say exactly THIS!

Budnick was always the hardass of the group, so watching him fold into a little crying baby when Zeke came out was pretty freaky.

The scariest thing about the ER episode is that it's not beyond the realm of possibility. Those people are exposed to dangerous and disturbed people almost daily.

He's Scottish and they hadn't invented synthahol yet. Why would anyone think twice about it?

Awesome to see Eerie, Indiana on the list. My favorite episode is the one where the kid doesnt reset his watch for daylight saving and he ends up in some weird parallel dimension.

Oh yeah. I forgot about the "Are you my mummy" one. Excellent bad guys, but not a terribly scary episode.

Some of the Treehouse of Horror episodes from the Simpsons freaked me out as a kid. "Terror at 5½ Feet" kind of stands out in my memory.

And who would've thought that Joker ripped off his magic trick from Boy Meets World?

That really was a pretty freaky episode, and watching the pencil scrawl down the wall through the back of his head as he slides down was not something you're used to seeing on TGIF.

Oh cool, my holloween costume. Only 2 people recognized it, unfortunately. I left my plunger in the casino, can't believe they let me in with it in the first place.

The Breaking Bad episode wasn't really that scary per se... but it was an excellent episode of an excellent series.

The episode of ALF with the space cockroach always creeped me out.

Scary Trek? I'd vote for "Schisms", where the crew was being pulled through a portal and these creepy aliens were doing experiements on them. Loved how they recreated the experience in the holodeck (it's just MOSTLY for porn) - the last five minutes gave me big-time goosebumps.

CarnySaur: Glad to see the M*A*S*H* nightmare episode on there. That terrified me as a kid when I first saw it.

I had to turn it off. I wasn't able to watch it in re-runs for years. I was about 9 when I first saw it and was in my 30s by the time I came across the ep and had the nerve to watch it.

And I've never seen the Eerie Indiana ep with the daylight savings parallel universe, and never heard of it until reading the post upthread... that is a creepy-as-hell concept!

There was a GI Joe cartoon, a two parter I think, where some of the Joes are transported to an alternate dimension where Cobra has won. They come cross themselves as corpses. It was a little freaky...

Good call on the Six Feet Under episode and the entire freaking run on Unsolved Mysteries. I watched through all of Six Feet Under last year and was absolutely stunned by the complete turnaround of that episode. It only pissed people off because they got sucked into it as well...that it would be a cute little fantasy (like the others), only to discover that it was a horrible reality.

And Unsolved Mysteries gave me many hours of lost sleep. It normally wasn't the paranormal stuff, either.

2011-10-31 01:42:54 PM
I remember being scared to death of an episode of Metal Mickey which featured a headless horseman. We didn't usually watch the show but were staying with my cousins. I don't think I ever watched another episode.

They had a Christmas one where Cthulhu was in the basement of the Destro Castle

The Boy Meets World episode is still cool. I can still here that song.

"Here's a knife, here's a gun,
There'll be fun for everyone,
Death is on the menu tonight!"

Also,

"So what are the rules to surviving horror movies?"
"Well, virgins never die"
"Haha I'm dead." "Me too!" *high fives*
"Woo thank you Topanga."
