Yipes. At least he is getting paid?

The top 5 fantasy RBs haven't been spectacular this year. Still, I don't feel bad for CJ owners (particularly those that reached for him while he was still "in negotiations").

I've gone from 4-0 to 4-4, and even with that I'm still glad I've got Darren Mc... bollocks.

I'm happy that he's having a terrible season after acting like such a little biatch about getting a massive contract. He should be humiliated...

In fairness, Jamaal Charles has been out since week two? After that, I don't know who you're talking about.

Ray Rice has been a monster, esp in a PPR - so he doesn't fit that mold. MJD, Run DMC and AP have all been reliable. McCoy has clearly solidified his position as a top-five back... thats six (depending on who your "top" five were on draft day, scoring settings, etc). So really, its just been CJ who's stunk up the place.

He will be the poster child for _not_ giving into a holdout.

I wish him all the best next year with the Dolphins.

If Foster wasn't top 5 in your league, you must play with a bunch of soothsayers. Most have been fine, but only patches of awesome so it remains to be seen if they are worth a top 6 spot. They've been overshadowed by Brady+Welker, Megatron, Rodgers.

Yes, I've seen this before. "Larry Johnson Disease". Symptoms include spontaneously falling down when within 3 yards of other men, inability to perceive open spaces, and chronic fatigue.

Sorry to be "that guy" but how come I can't access the Tebow threads and join in the delicious schaudenfreude?

2011-10-31 09:21:25 AM
I've been very happy with LaSean McCoy. Still hasn't helped me win week to week, though, since farking Andre Johnson has been out forever and autodraft selected Peyton Manning because I was late.

2011-10-31 09:22:41 AM
Nice to see Fark fixed the earlier threads. Wait, change "fixed" to "not done a damn thing with".

Ugh.

Chris Johnson belongs in an art museum, with other expensive busts.

GimpyNip: Arian Foster still seems like a bigger dickhead though...so there's that.

Oh? How so?

Are people still pissy about how he got pissed off that people only cared about his injury because they had him on their FF teams?

This is why running backs hold out for more money. Their performance is dependent on way too many variables and their agents know to strike when the iron's hot.

Foster was a top-3-overall-at-draft-day in two of the three leagues I'm in - so you're right to call out that I left him out. In the third, we drafted at the last-possible-minute, when it was already pretty apparent he was hurt (even then he went 6th overall/4th RB). But even accounting for his hurt-time, he's been a rock-star since getting healthy, 850 yds (combined) and 5 scores in 5 healthy games? That's hardly disappointing. I think he'll finish the season solidly.

Regarding Brady/Welker/Megatron/Rodgers - absolutely all huge. But I thought we were talking about top-five RBs, rather than top-5 overall. Then again, in my 3 leagues, Rodgers went in the first round, too (as did Calvin in the largest of them).

2011-10-31 09:40:07 AM
GimpyNip: Hey his own coach benched him because he has a 'tude. He seems pretty humorless.

That's only happened like once.

The humorless part only really came into play when he found out that people were caring more about how his injury would affect their FF teams rather than if he was alright or not. When he's dealing with his fans he is pretty respectful and appreciative.

2011-10-31 09:40:44 AM
GimpyNip: MJD hasn't been very good.

MJD hasnt gotten in the endzone much - but you can hardly fault him for his yardage and he's surprisingly stayed healthy. But for chrissake, he's got blaine gabbert under center. He's facing 8 guys in the box every time he touches the ball. Last week notwithstanding, the Jags are a terrible football team. With those tempered expectations? I feel he's done better than you should have rightfully expected. Personally, I avoided MJD for that reason and for the fact that I play PPR or 1/2 PPR leagues. So he's not as useful as, say, a Rice.

CJ hasn't forgotten how to run, but our line isn't giving him opportunities. He seems indecisive when making cuts though so I'm not sure what the problem is. I think skipping camp during a time when the entire team was changing was a mistake. Javon Ringer seemed a better back than Chris yesterday. He got consistent yardage on first down to give us manageable 2nd and 3rd downs. The Titan's line seems great at pass protection and terrible at run blocking.

/my 2 cents as a Titan's fan
//I would still take a team of blind people over Vince Young
///long live Jeff Fisher

I have CJ and Hillis so, yea.

ModernPrimitive01: The Titan's line seems great at pass protection and terrible at run blocking.

No it isn't. Ringer consistently gets decent yardage without any of the skill CJ formerly displayed. If he still had the ability, CJ would be able to rip off 100 yards a game. He just stopped giving a fark and doesn't care enough to want it anymore. He's getting booed in Nashville now and he deserves it. Bench his ass or cut him at this point. He doesn't deserve it.

2011-10-31 10:20:53 AM
Played CJ solely because he was playing Indy.

He's probably on my bench for the rest of the season unless he breaks out multiple times.

While our line play is abysmal, I think it's pretty obvious CJ is going the JaWalrus route and just tanking it so he can get released and enjoy his money with no repercussions.

He's an RB who's gone for 2,000 in a season. Tailbacks are the easiest people on a team to replace- unless you're an obvious first-ballot Hall-of-Famer, you're expendable. Copspeed has too much mileage on him already.

There's a reason Ringer looked better yesterday- it's because, at this point in time, he's a better running back.

Any word on why the Teebus-related themes are out? When will I be able to wow people with my clever, "Forgive the Broncos, Lord, they know not Ndamukong Suh" remark?

On a note more relevant to this thread, seriously, fark you, Static the Hog.

I've got DeMarco Murray, Frank Gore, LeSean McCoy as my starters and Rashard Mendenhall and Donald Brown as my emergency backs. So I don't see what the problem is.

EyeballKid: Any word on why the Teebus-related themes are out?

It's probably because of the herp-derp "something stupid>Tebow" meme. The greater than sign means something in HTML, and someone probably got overzealous in their glee to be stupid, put one or two too many in their post, and made the server crash on a syntax error. Let's face it, people who rock stupid memes like that aren't going to be too up on their coding, if you know what I mean.

Yet another reason for more teams to take the Eagles' approach to contracts and re-negotiate the crap out of a rookie contract early on when they appreciate the money.

The Titans probably could have signed him to an extension mid-season when he solidified the starting role in his break-out season. Could have given him a healthy raise and added a couple of years with performance bonuses. But they didn't and then they got raped in the off-season and ended up with a bad deal.

If you ever lose a week in that league you should feel bad about yourself.

I'm in a 12 team league, and somehow I ended up with Matt Stafford, LeSean McCoy, Mark Ingram (ok nothing special there), Calvin Johnson, Dwayne Bowe, AJ Green, Jeremy Maclin, and Mike Wallace. I'm about to be 8-0. And I'm gonna look back at the draft because I have no idea how I could've ended up with that receiver corps in a 12-team league.

It's not like this was a mystery, FFB players. Do your research. Out of the top projected picks,
Chris Johnson - Never trust a hold-out. RB hold-outs have historically been horrific the following year; same goes for nearly all positions.

MJD - Knee injury, bone-on-bone? You drafted HIM?

Ryan Grant - lol-packer-running-game.

Arian Foster - Injury was no mystery

If you drafted Mccoy, Rice, AP, enjoy
Mendenhall, well... that happens. Consistently above avg, was not worth a 1st rd

Also, he owes me an apology for stinking up my team.

How's this for some nobody cares FF info:

I'm in an 8 team league, had 2nd overall pick and my choices went like so...
1) Adrian Peterson 2nd overall (obviously has worked out well)
2) Drew Brees 15th overall (also worked out well this week aside)
3) Andre Johnson 18th overall (did well before injured, still holding him on bench)
4) Peyton Manning 31st overall (no longer sure why I did this, but has been dropped for awhile now)
5) Ahmad Bradshaw 34th overall (fairly happy with his performance)
6) Dallas Clark 47th overall (dropped a few weeks in)
7) Brandon Lloyed 50th overall (dropped and grabbed again after trade to StL)
8) Beanie Wells 63rd overall (better than expected)
9) Eli Manning 66th overall (haven't used as a starter yet, but he's put up some decent numbers)
10) Patriots Def 79th overall (not sure what I was thinking there, only had for one week, I change up defense almost every week anyway based on matchups/availability)
11) Steve johnson 82nd overall (started strong, but has been less impressive lately, will maybe perma-bench when bye weeks are done and Andre Johnson is healthy)
12) Tony Gonzalez 95th overall (exceeded expectations, but seems to have slowed. Will still be starter for now)
13) Tim Hightower 98th overall (gave me a few good games. Dropped him during bye week 5 with no regrets)
14) Mike Sims-Walker 111th overall (started him once in week 2. He gave me a decent 9.2 points. Wisely dropped him the next week)
15) Sebastian Janikowski 114th overall (very happy with his production. Dropped him and grabbed Cundiff this week becuase of Oakland bye. Will try to pick him up again if someone else doesn't get him first, not a huge deal either way)

I don't think anyone suggests MJD is an equal talent to AP. :)

Also, with Ponder showing ability to throw the ball, Peterson might start to see running room.

Wow, well done. I'm in a 12-team league too. My team got autodrafted since they made the draft on a weeknight during my busiest time of year at work, so my team's been an endless parade of the Jerome Simpsons, Denarius Moores, Preston Parkers, and Doug Baldwins of the world (though Baldwin's been good). To be fair though, everybody else is pretty annoyed at how deep the league is. Anytime somebody decent become available it's a mad waiver rush.

At least I lucked into Steve Smith.

Yeah Steve Smith has been a nice surprise this year. I looked at the draft and saw some of these guys drafting defensive players in early rounds (IDP league) and one guy actually drafted a kicker in the 4th round. I got Matt Stafford in the 9th round and grabbed Jimmy Graham in the 11th. And my defensive players sucked at the beginning but I've grabbed a bunch of free agents. Playing with a bunch of first timers almost makes it too easy, but I'll be happy to take their money :)

He works in a sport where he can have a career-ending injury in every game, playing the position with the shortest lifetime careers, and can have his contract terminated by his employer without recompense at any time for any reason, including injury. Hell, man, if I was in his position I can't say for sure I'd do anything different, particularly as he DID get paid.
