I tried listening to his show once, while Kornheiser's was on hiatus.

It made me realize just how much more entertaining Tony Kornheiser is than Dan Patrick.

You can download the PTI podcast about an hour after the show airs. Same with around the horn. All the same sports talk goodness, none of the sportwriters' faces.

Tony is the best. Especially when he's being a bad boy. I love it when he's making the producers squirm. Dan Patrick is alright, but he's too sterile.

You can download it as an audio podcast from espnradio.com/podcenter. You can also get most other espn radio shows with much fewer commercials, so if you're a fan of Mke & Mike, Cowturd or the Scott Van Pelt show (guilty on that last) you can get the whole show as a 45min or so podcast pretty soon after they're done broadcasting.

"Sterile" is a good word. And his wannabe sportscasters in the background are bad. If I wanted to hear some nobody's view on sports, I'd find an empty barstool and sit down.

ESPN980 in DC. I don't listen to it as it airs though, I don't get the station around here, and the local station carries Cowherd.

The audio only versoin of PTI is pretty good, as is the audio only version of Around the Horn.

that's not a bad word for it.
I actually tried listening to LeBatard's show once, and didn't think it was too bad. Thankfully I was not listening during basketball season, or my opinion might be different.

I live in the Chicago market, so I get the local sports radio. The Score has Mully and Hanley in the morning if you want mindless Chicago meatball idiocy (Mully's not bad, but Hanley is horrible). The other station just runs Mike and Mike.

What's funny to listen to is when the local afternoon guy, Dan Bernstein, fills in for Dan Patrick. Bernstein is the ultimate radio troll, who completely understands how to get people angry enough to call or email the station. When he fills in for Dan Patrick, he's the polar opposite; nice and thoughtful, with really good takes and arguments.

LeBatard's new show is growing on me. He's nowhere near as annoying as Rome or Cowherd or Bayless, and his dad's funny. I like someone having a commentary show where they don't have to be an ass for ratings.

B&B in the afternoon on WSCR are awesome. When they get meatball idiots calling into the show it's the best radio you'll ever hear. I hate Mully and Handley in the AM and DahMaNa and Spiegs is great, when DahMaNa isn't there are Laurence Holmes or Jason Goff are filling in.....

Yeah, but LeBatard's voice sounds like Justin Bieber. He may be smart (but as far as I've heard - on PTI, so it might be different on his show - he's just as much an AW-moron as any of them), but godDAMN does he sound annoying.

Always laugh when people are surprised these 'bad' signs get in. Just leave the back blank and bring a couple sharpies...pull it out at an opportune time.

Or the easier way is the sandwich, where you tape two signs together, maybe with a handle/stick in between to imply there is actually a reason for the two being stuck together. Then when you get in, remove stick and tape to reveal not one, but two distasteful signs!

When are we going to get some combination of Goff/Holmes/Abbatacola in a regular time slot? When they do a half-hour transition later in the night (I think around 10 PM), it's just amazing radio.

I listen to B&B a lot, but I do sometimes get a little tired of Dan's obvious trolling. Goff is great and needs to have a regular show. I could see him taking Terry's spot when he finally retires.

I like Danny Mac, but there are three things that will always get me to change the dial: college sports talk, hockey talk, and fantasy sports talk, and Mac and Spiegs do all three.

Matty and Goff were great together last week.

That is exactly WHY I listen to B&B, Dan is the world's best troll. Dan Bernstein is everything David Kaplan wishes he could be.

I really dislike DahMaNa... he's the world's biggest meatball. He seems to refuse to talk about Basketball (I don't like that either but it IS sports radio). I do like the Fantasy Sports talk that they do on Thursdays... Spiegs and Goff need their own show...

I agree, but when Dan is in a mood you know it and it just makes for awkward radio. More mock-Chicago accent "I think I'll call hockey fans racists and Cubs fans stupid today" playfulness, less jump-down-your-throat-if-you-call-with-a-bad-joke anger.

I don't follow DahMaNa and Spiegs as much as I do B&B but I listened to one segment earlier this year when Speigel put an intern on air and publicly dressed him down for apparently having a bad attitude. I mean he totally pulled rank and embarrassed the kid. On air. The intern might have deserved it, but it struck me as the ultimate dick move on his part. To this day Speigel hasn't done or said anything to make me believe he isn't a total stroke.

DahMaNa is DahMaNa: classic hockey-myopian. Inoffensive but I won't go to bat for him like other on-air talent. His obsession with the football "safety" signal is cool, though. It is the coolest mechanic in sports.

I've found that this doesn't happen as much as it used to... he's been pretty jovial lately. Dave Kaplan has been nothing short of the biggest sports douche in the world lately. He yells at callers and doesn't even let them TALK.
