Come on, who here hasn't gotten drunk and tried to go "home" only to find out it was someone else's house? Give the guy a break.

I actually agree with your snark. He's 21 years old and obviously has some problems. Give him some probation, alcohol classes, and make him pay for the damage. 30,000 dollars sounds like an absorbent amount for bail.

$30,000 bail for, essentially, acting drunk and stupid and causing a bunch of property damage that's probably less than 1/10th of the bail amount. Release him on recognizance and if he's found guilty of trespassing or whatever, sentence him to restitution and mental-health counseling. Unless there are facts that aren't being reported in the article.

Sounds like he had too much beer, not enough sense to get himself home, and just the right amount of blood on him.

30k for bail? Was the guy not white?

Something else not reported went on here, or whoever set the bail that high needs to be cocked punched.

2011-10-31 07:25:27 AM
you generally only have to post 10% of your bail if i remember correctly So for 30k that would be like 3k. plus a lein on your car. If you skip your appearance then they take your car and keep the money.

This happened to me in high school. I was crashing at a friend's apartment after we had a party there, and at 6am a 350lb naked fat bearded guy walked in and passed out on the couch. He was so big and out that four of us couldn't move him. We had to call the cops, who thought the whole thing was hilarious- four obviously drunk high school kids in an apartment reeking of beer call them for help with a naked fat man.

/cool story, bro

Huh? Snark? I was being serious. Guess it's not as common an occurrence as my experience and peers would suggest.

Breaking into an occupied dwelling has more severe repercussions than simply walking into a house uninvited. It will be up to the court to determine his intention, not the police. The bail is also predetermined for the charged crime, the police do not set it.

Anyone know why so many of the threads are getting "Five Oh Oh Fark blew up trying to retrieve /comments/(number here)"? It's even happening to /comments/1. It's been like that for several hours now. http://beerspill.fark.com/ doesn't provide any info. I can wait for it to be fixed, but it would be nice to at least know what's going on.

I was a police officer and my statement was based on Alabama law. Only the court can set bail so to alleviate extended jail time due to court closure the court presets bail for common crimes.

LOL NP. I don't always say exactly what I mean anyway. If Freud was a former cop then a Freudian Slip would be a completely different thing, a few of which I would have been guilty of. For instance, what I wanted to say was "Get out of the car you stupid biatch before I blow your farking brains all over your interior" turned into "Maam, would you please step out of your vehicle"......or was that vice-versa? :-)
