She's lucky my ancestors had differing thoughts during the winter of 1620.

2011-10-30 06:33:48 PM
She said she would "not do anything," for the children, adding"Their parents are the ones who brought them here," Bachmann said, as first reported by MSNBC. "They did not have the legal right to come to the United States. We do not owe people who broke our laws to come into the country. We don't owe them anything."

41 "Then he will say to those on his left, 'Depart from me, you who are cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels. 42 For I was hungry and you gave me nothing to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me nothing to drink, 43 I was a stranger and you did not invite me in, I needed clothes and you did not clothe me, I was sick and in prison and you did not look after me.'

44 "They also will answer, 'Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or needing clothes or sick or in prison, and did not help you?'

45 "He will reply, 'Truly I tell you, whatever you did not do for one of the least of these, you did not do for me.'

not only is she legally wrong, she's also morally incorrect as well - according to her own theology she has to help the sick and poor.

Another one they really don't like is:

Matthew - 6:5 And when thou prayest, thou shalt not be as the hypocrites are: for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.

6:6 But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly.

One day the GOP is going to realize that Latinos are a largely-Catholic, largely-conservative voter base which is strongly opposed to same-sex marriage and abortion. But it is not this day. One day they'll figure out that all the anti-immigrant rhetoric is alienating a group that is voting Democrat despite a general lack of similar sentiment. But it is not this day! One day they'll wake up and start actively courting this group, which may turn several traditionally solid 'blue' states red. But it is not this day!!

Yeah, but it's a slippery slope. Once you start treating the Latinos like human beings, what's next? Treating the filthy homos like humans? Or the blacks? Or heaven forbid, the dirty libtards?

Not in our lifetime, pal.

To be fair, take a look at the courting of the Cubano vote in Florida. Those a the good Latinos. But this lumping in of every Hispanic with the "dirty Messicans" is going to cost the party dearly--especially since a lot of immigrants are getting rousted by efforts like Sheriff Joe's in Maricopa. I say let Bachmann keep this up. We NEED her to dial up the crazy, because if it drags folks along with her for her fall, the better. We need to slice off the Crazy Train from the GOP, and the best way to do that is to have them lose not one, but two Presidential elections. Hard. Push-pull the candidates to the Kooky Right, and let the American people choose away from that precipice, and you will see a lot of folks suddenly backing away from the extreme stances.

It is the only way. It's maybe some tough love, but that's the only way to get the Republican party from the Idiot Brigade.

But her children, the government should give her massive checks every month for, right? Because that's what she gets - government handouts every month for her children.

But it's OK because she's white.

Yeah. Better start mandating that stuff gets taught in public school straight from the Bible, so we don't get another generation of Michelle Bachmans.

My immigrant family came here in the 1850s and they came into the United States legally.

Considering that the United States did not have any laws restricting immigration until 1875, it would have been impossible to come to the United States illegally in the 1850s.

WTF are you talking about?

look - Bachmann likes to claim that she's very religious. its one of her main selling points. she thumps that bible damn near every chance she gets.

Then she goes and says stuff like this.

the only thing I (and others) are doing is going into Bachmann's book, her bible, and pointing out that she contradicts her own beliefs. she doesn't follow her own philosophies. Her religion says 'help the poor' and she's campaigning on a 'f*ck the poor' platform.

Nobody's advocating religion in schools, nobody's saying Christianity is 'right' or that God likes one candidate over another. this isn't about atheism or religious rights. This is about ONE thing and one thing only - pointing out Bachmann's hypocrisy. this is looking at what Bachmann says she believes and then pointing out that no, she actually doesn't practice what she preaches.

Now stay with me here because this is the important part - nobody likes hypocrits. especially religious ones. this is important because this woman is running for high office. pointing out the fact that she's a lying scumbag can ONLY help keep her out office. Pointing out the fact that her fellow travellers are also lying scumbags is also important because it undermines their crediblity. Don't get lost in the details. don't get distracted by the subject matter. Stay focused on this one meme - Bachmann is a lying scumbag. that's all we're doing here is hammering that meme home.

got it? good. now go get 'em!

Well, since she's showing no signs of dropping out of the race (though it's over for her), I think you can expect her to keep ramping up the crazy in the hopes of getting attention.

You see, like the psychopath Sarah Palin, Bachmann thinks attention, no matter if it's for something good or something bad, translates to votes. In other words, the more people are talking about her, the more votes she believes she has.

Showing up hypocrisy? I'm good with that.

The problem lies in folks who think that Biblical interpretations are should be the law of the land, yet fail to even parse the teachings that they espouse. Weaver95 is hardly a Biblethumper, but pointing out weaknesses in logic, that he does OK with. And in this, pointing out a woman's failings to understand the very teachings that she would like to make the law of the land, that is necessary to keeping the mouthbreathing sect out of public office, and more's the pity that folks didn't use it in her own district...

That's what kills me about all those "my family came here legally" assholes. Restrictive immigration laws are a relatively new concept. Your family that "got here legally" got here because the laws were incredibly different than they are now.

Very true. I don't think Palin was ever about votes. And, a small voice is telling me that Bachmann is angling for the same sweet media deal Palin got. Normally, I'd say that people aren't that stupid to give this woman the time of day, but from what I've seen of Republicans... well... Let's just say that education, sanity, common sense and basic human decency aren't things they can honestly boast about.

The real problem is the Minnesota 6th. Those people are a long, lost cause, and they keep electing her somehow. She represents them, and that says more about the kind of people they have living there than anything.

Anyway, yep. You're right about Palin. My comparison was a bit off. I will be honest, though. I'm not sure if I want Bachmann to ever go away. The crap that falls from this woman's empty head is always worth a laugh, and she can destroy the Republican party with just a few words. For example, Ed Schultz, as unhinged and insane as he is, has to work night and day to just bruise the GOP's reputation. Bachmann does a lot more damage just by opening her mouth for five seconds.
