Sgygus: Can it make popcorn?

Only if you stop touching yourself.

What could possibly go wrong?

Scientists even believe it might help them to prove whether other dimensions actually exist.

When the first nuclear bomb was detonated there was a theory it would ignite a self-sustaining nuclear reaction in the atmosphere. Could this laser ignite a self-propagating rip in the fabric of the space-time continuum?

If so, then I think it is proof that no (or at least very few) technological species have preceded us in the universe. If was that easy to create a self-propagating rip in the fabric of the space-time, it would have happened already.

If that happens just reverse the polarity on the tachyon beam and seal it right up.

dont forget to reconfigure the field generators so they can run at the inverse harmonic frequency of the normal power resonance of your power grid. any surges could be diverted to the structural integrity fields. you might have to rebuild the distribution nodes afterwards, but that is what red-shirts are for, just in case the nodes have become polarized

I remember reading some months back that the maximum theoretical output of a laser had been achieved. E=mc^2. The energy (E) density was high enough that matter was being formed. Add any more energy and you just get more matter.

I don't think you'd want Holly's help, unless you're keen on shagging your opposite sex self from another dimension.

I guess my memory might be slightly erroneous. It was more of an experiment to demonstrate the limit. The project mentioned in this article is mentioned at the end of the old one I found. Looks like they accelerated electrons into a trillion watt and... well I won't spoil it. Interesting read. Man, I got the wrong job.

Took me a bit, but here you go: Lasers reaching their limit (new window)

Albinoman: It was more of an experiment to demonstrate the limit.

You only have the issue if you have charged particles in the beam. You have to have a sufficient energy density and charge gradient to get pair production. Thus the comment in the article about having an electron beam.

Of course the repairs should take about 1500 manhours, but since the show has to end at some point in the next 15 minutes we'll find a way to repair everything back to 100% operating efficiency in 8-10 manhours.

Alright this next test may involve trace amounts of time travel. So word of advice: if you meet yourself on the testing track don't make eye contact. Lab boys tell me that'll wipe out time - entirely. Forward and backward. So do both of yourselves a favor and let that handsome devil go about his business.
