Shiat, that makes me sad. I mean, he wasn't the best broadcaster the last couple of years, age has that affect, but he was a legend.

/John Brooks was better IMOHO
//Toby is doing okay this year

He was a very nice guy. His demeanor off the air was the same as when he was behind a camera or microphone.

OU losing to TT was bad enough.

TT then getting curb-stomped by Iowa St this week killed him.

This really sucks. As a lifelong Oklahoman, I used to listen to him back in the 80s when I was a kid. I'd turn down the sound on the TV & listen to Bob. Sure, he wasn't as sharp recently as back in the day, but in the 80s there wasn't a play-by-play announcer who IMO was better at it. R.I.P. Announcer man.

There better be a Nebraska-Oklahoma BCS match up in his honor.

Watch as Boise State, Alabama, LSU, Stanford, Arkansas, OK State, and Oregon lose 3 games.

DO YOU BELIEVE IN MIRACLES?

I submitted the headline, "Voice of Sooners dead at 80. Now if only the same thing will happen to the team's season"

Apparently someone had a problem with this.

/seriously though RIP big bob

Their season died just before he did. This IS the BCS, after all.

Sad thing is he worked for KFOR and the other stations picked it up and put it on their facebook pages, etc., etc. before channel 4 did.
he was a good broadcaster, but in the later years, it was almost as bad as reading a tramel or carlson column in the Oklahoman, listening to him call play by play.

And it's 1st and 10 at the 50's Sooner yard line!

BAH GAWD KING!!!

Seriously, RIP. I was never much of a Sooners fan but losing a long-time voice for a team is a hard thing to go through.

The last couple of years? I moved here in 1995. He was hard to listen to even then. He might have been a great sportscaster at some point, but it was at some point before 1995.

Yes, but if God doesn't lift a finger to help a Tebow, I think we're out of luck.

I'm glad he got a great sendoff last year after his retirement. His voice will always be synonymous with Sooner football for me.

I'll miss ya, Big Bob

Here's a better article that talks about what kind of man he was, and the amazing history he was a part of.

I know the guy just died, but there is one man who has said he'd step in if needed:

Make it so.
