"I think that anybody who adheres to a lifestyle that is outside of what the biblical mandate is and of what the board has passed, including the president, would not be allowed to continue here," Dowless told Channel 2 Action News

To which the logical follow-up question is whether they're also banning shellfish and promoting slavery.

Of course not. That would be religious persecution.

And, hey women, don't you dare cut that hair...or speak in church.

And what they are really saying is "We have the right to hire only our kind of Christians, you know, the bigoted ones."

Fark these people and their religious BS. They're homophobic bigots and if anything they should be the ones getting fired from jobs for their attitude.

At least they're only refusing to hire those evil non-Christians. They could be murdering them outright.

"Anyone arrogant enough to reject the verdict of the judge or of the priest who represents the LORD your God must be put to death. Such evil must be purged from Israel." (Deuteronomy 17:12 NLT)

Especially the gays:

"If a man lies with a male as with a women, both of them shall be put to death for their abominable deed; they have forfeited their lives." (Leviticus 20:13 NAB)

2011-10-30 12:37:27 PM
Every single person who works at Shorter should declare themselves gay. Go ahead and run the school without them.

But that would require the presence of a spine. Never mind.

Of course they are also required to wear purple Nikes while waiting for the UFO hiding in the tail of a comet, so this isn't surprising.

The California Fair Employment and Housing Act states the following:

"It prohibits employment discrimination based on race or color; religion; national origin or ancestry, physical disability; mental disability or medical condition; marital status; sex or sexual orientation; age, with respect to persons over the age of 40; and pregnancy, childbirth, or related medical conditions."

What I don't know is if I can make being anti-religious a condition of employment. I doubt it. And even if I could - if it went public, the P.R. hit wouldn't be worth it.

2011-10-30 12:43:11 PM
This is pretty common. A friend of mine who teaches with the Catholic school board here in Calgary nearly lost her job when she had a child out of wedlock. Seems not unusual, provided it's consistent.

FTFA: They also agree to be loyal to the mission of Shorter as a Christ-centered school affiliated with the Georgia Baptist Convention; to not use, sell, possess or produce illegal drugs; and to not drink alcoholic beverages in the presence of students or promote the use of alcohol.

If they wanted to be consistent about this, then alcohol consumption would be prohibited, not just discouraged. Just because the law says it's ok doesn't mean that the bible does.

Shorter University. Shorter. I saw most of my junior high & high school (male) classmates in the PE showers or after school on sports teams. The homophobes and bully types and have-to-prove-how-tough types all were SHORTER. The attractive guys were never like that, competetive yes, but didn't need to bully or not be accepting. Shorter. Shorter University.

I"m guessing they didn't make the Top Ten Party Schools of 2011 list.

"Anything outside that is not biblical, we do not accept," Dowless told Channel 2."

I wonder what their views are on employees eating pork and shrimp, shaving their hair at the temples and wearing double-knits? I'm sure all these things will be strictly banned, right? Right?

"I think that anybody who adheres to a lifestyle that is outside of what the biblical mandate is and of what the board has passed, including the president, would not be allowed to continue here," Dowless told Channel 2 Action News.

Well shiat, that covers a lot of territory there. I mean the bible had a whole list of rules and laws regarding correct behavior and the punishments for misconduct. So I have to presume they are pro-stoning now.

They also agree to be loyal to the mission of Shorter as a Christ-centered school affiliated with the Georgia Baptist Convention; to not use, sell, possess or produce illegal drugs; and to not drink alcoholic beverages in the presence of students or promote the use of alcohol.

And yet the bible pretty much takes a drink, just don't be a drunkard stance on alcohol (particularly wine). And what we recognize as "illegal drugs" were of no mention in the bible. Gee, I wonder where these people are getting their standards from.

In fact in some Christian tombs they found images of the tree of knowledge being depicted as an amanita muscaria mushroom.

That's the Adam & Eve fresco from 1291 AD, in the Plaincourault Abbey, Indre, France.

Do such hardcore Christians follow the Jewish bible or not? Christ said nothing about homosexuality, yet healed a Roman soldier's male sex slave. Leviticus only says it's an abomination to lie with a man like a woman IN THE TEMPLE, but goes on and on about abominations like seafood and pigmeat that Christians routinely violate.

Are these evangelicals growing in numbers or are the remaining few just getting louder and more desperate as society continues to throw aside their beliefs?

I sure hope it's the latter.

There's a ton of people in here who don't know how the Bible works, lol but it does say treat your body as a temple, keep it pure. If they don't add 'I agree not to overindulge in anything, including alcohol and food' then they look pretty well like bigots. The way I see it, you go do what you like, I just think you might be happier here. Whether it's being with the same sex or or having a whole cheesecake every night- neither one is gonna condemn you to hell, but I think I could help you be happier than you are now. I wish more people were a little more hands off, we wouldn't look so bad all the time.
