5:54 isn't the worst thing I've ever seen.

I really wish that vid had more than 2 pixels.

Not too bad, though eraser8 is right -- a bit higher resolution would have been nice. Oh, and go ahead and mute your speakers before you click -- the audio is annoying as hell.

This. Maybe try watching with your own soundtrack. Otherwise a decent enough compilation of clips.

It seems that they got slasher mixed up with horror mixed up with Clockwork Orange, which was a black comedy.

Darth_Lukecash: Clockwork Orange, which was a black comedy.

7/10

No, I can see what log meant. It's darker than the heart of a Hollywood Agent, but it's ther.

Strange, isn't it. All those nasty, graphic images can be shown without problems, but heaven help us if we displayed anything sexual.

2001: A Space Odyssey is a horror movie?

Gore does not equal horror.

jmsvrsn: Gore does not equal horror.

Bingo!

And yea, higher resolution would have been nice.

that sucked.

I can say that I recognised 80% of those clips, being a big horror/splatter fan... I'm disappointed that I don't know the other 20%... Looked like some good shiat! (as far as fake blood and violence is concerned)

/very first horror watched ever: Gates of Hell
//never looked back!

When I want to scare myself on Halloween I watch CSPAN.

What's the movie at 6:37?

I'm going to pretend that the following is relevant, because the music doesn't suck as bad and it has cats boxing.
My stupid homemade Halloween vid (new window)

Freaks isn't a horror movie.

Unless I'm desensitized to it, but it wasn't scary at all.

Agreed. Actually it was a fairly moral film, depicting us 'normals' as the real freaks.
Not altogether sure why it was banned for such a long time (apart from a cynical view that most people watched it to gawk at the freaks).

jmsvrsn: Gore does not equal horror.

Neither does suspense.

Could have used less repeats. The "head separation" scene from The Thing was shown at least 4 or 5 times.

2011-10-30 08:40:45 PM
I don't think I saw Mike Myers anywhere in that blocky pixel thingy.

So what does?

Horror can most definitely be suspenseful and/or gory, but that doesn't make everything which is suspenseful or gory horror which is what I was mainly getting at.

To me horror is the depiction of something you know isn't true or couldn't happen, something completely irrational, but it unsettles you, makes you hesitate a split second before turning on the light in the basement or makes you investigate that sound you just heard.

Ok. Not sure I agree 100% (maybe 80+) but I see what you're getting at.

Always enjoy (and am surprised by) a thoughtful and polite response on Fark.

You've obviously never seen that particular cinematic treat. Here's the condensed version (NSFW-ish).

I remember seeing that on TV back in '89 or '90.

Kinda freaky when you're ten and living outside of Seattle, where you see a lot of slugs...
