I miss the good ol' days when cops were out to get criminals worth a god damn or eat donuts.

Bonnie and Clyde were brought down. The guy speeding on that same highway wasn't even given a warning.

Nope. The rights you have are inherent in you as a human being. Society (and their expression via governments) can take them away sure, but they cannot give them, only recognize them.

Probably gonna bite me in the ass, but I got into an argument with some BP agents while on a job. The agents were doing the normal things like talking about commute times.

The agent mentioned that he lived in Phoenix and commuted about an hour to our location. A normal commute would be 2 hrs at 75mph. When asked what happens when he is pulled over, he looked confused and pulled his credentials out. Explaining that they let him go anywhere and do anything. He also went on about the special lack of searches he dealt with at the airport.

A lot if these guys are poorly educated about how much their actions impact the rights of others, and have a world view that whatever they do is right because they are the government.

These are good people for the most part, and that's why it's scary. They aren't getting off on abusing authority, they genuinly don't think what they are doing can be wrong. That's the real obstacle we have to overcome. No one reforms if they don't know they need to reform in the first place.

Rights are automatic. Rights are guaranteed. You have rights because you exist.

Uh, this may come as a surprise to you, but there are quite a few taxpayers in the United States who have perfectly legal status but are not citizens. They are just as entitled to Constitutional protections as a citizen is. Just because a person is not a citizen does not mean they are in the country illegally.

You don't seem to realize he's a conservative. For them, eveything is black and white. Somehow ICE just knows they are non-citizens and they are the police, so they are always right ,all the time. To cons, there really is no reason for courts or warrants. You can somehow magically tell who the "Badguys" are the courts are just a liberal construct to keep the badguys from being punished.

You never dealt with an inexperienced woman. She came 4 freaking times and was too young (17 or 18) to know to take care of the guy in between. It was an all night affair, so by the time relief came, the ache was there for an hour or two afterward.

The compounding problem is I dropped her off at home in the morning her mom invited me in for breakfast. Trying to remain composed sitting next to a girl you were slightly annoyed at while hiding discomfort next to her mother and trying not to think about how much you just want to get some relief? That was pain.

/can't blame her, she more than made up for it the next day (in the band supply room of all places) and apologized saying she was quite distracted.

The one for which I work. The one defined by the Constitution (new window)

Far from perfect I will admit. I would not at this time have it any other way. My view is that every human, indeed any sapient (should we ever meet another sapient) has automatic rights. We work to defend those rights, not to constrain them. I fully recognize on a personal level the absurdity of such a statement. We have plenty of vice crimes and victimless crimes that nullify it. Nevertheless, I will continue to believe it and I will continue to endorse it. Jefferson, Paine, and Franklin are my idols.
