In an alternate dimension, Fringe is a huge ratings success.

Actually I watched Supernatural.

Just watched Grimm on Hulu. I think it has potential, but the first episode was a bit weak.

This. I wish this show were on AMC or F/X. Then it would be awesomely dark. Of course, it would also be canceled after a season, but I digress...

Actually I did try to watch Chuck and it was terminal.

Yea. My biggest concern is actually the two lead actors, I'm not sure they have it in them to carry a show. I was having a hard time caring about any of them until the monster side-kick guy showed up. He was good.

I also hated Aunt Marie, her only purpose seemed to be to spew bad one-line exposition.

She comes from the LOST school of leaving out a frustratingly large amount of information in every conversation.

I DVR'd Grimm. I'll give it a couple more episodes to get good and dark, or I'll let it go. The opening was meh. I was expecting more.

Burninate: Just watched Grimm on Hulu. I think it has potential, but the first episode was a bit weak.

Same. It's the sort of show that needs to go either for Buffy-style camp, or full-on horror. Right now it's trying to do both, and it's just dull.

I think I'm done with Chuck. The episode wasn't bad, but it's clear there's just nowhere for the show to go - they're just retreading old ground.

WhoIsWillo: In an alternate dimension, Fringe is a huge ratings success.

Yeah, but in that dimension it stars James Van Der Beek, and occasionally has Walter Koenig as a guest star. So no thanks.

I just watched Grimm on Hulu. It wasn't bad for a pilot, although they screwed up their German. I did like the friendly monster too.

BTW, is that an Airstream trailer or a TARDIS? I know they have to make the set big enough to film in, but geez.

'Chuck' needs more scenes of Yvonne Strahovski in lingerie. If the show's going nowhere, it may as well go scantily clad.

Let's just go ahead and post pictures of Yvonne Strahovski. I'll start.

eh, it's the last season, so I'll stick with it. But last season was a pretty sharp decline in quality...

While watching Grimm, I kept wishing Sam and Dean would show up and learn that dude how to put down a monster.

I tried watching Grimm. I couldn't get into it.

Chuck is still on the air?

/Never seen it, but thought it was cancelled at least a year ago.

They've kind of painted themselves into a corner, partly because Shaw's death was written as the series finale before they knew they were getting picked back up. Mark Hamill was a nice surprise, though.

If every "Chuck" episode will have a minute of half-naked Ivonne Strahovsky, I'm ok with it

Nah I don't think so. Last year was a little dodgy sometimes, but it was a hundred times better than all that Shaw garbage in season 3. Could Brandon Routh be any WORSE of an actor? I think not.

Anyway I thought the baby/proposal episode last year (the one that was to be the finale till they got the back half pickup) would have made a terrific series finale. But I've stuck with it this long and this is the last year so I'll ride it out.

Same here. For me Season 2 was the peak, and it's been in slow steady decline since then. I blame NBC more than anything - it's hard to write a great season arc when you don't know going into each season how many episodes you're going to get to tell your story.

They have a great cast, and I think they've done the best they could have with the writing. Yet another example of how networks cock up great shows and why most of the best stuff is on cable.

I wasn't impressed by Grimm.

Without going over all its faults, I'll just say this; Apparently, that first victim only had one song on her iPod. Either that, or the cops got to the scene of the crime really fast.

Didn't he die like 100 yards away from a machine that brings people back to life? I remember thinking it was weird that no one thought to put him in the machine that had just healed Brandon Routh two weeks earlier.

Voodoo_Stu: Apparently, that first victim only had one song on her iPod. Either that, or the cops got to the scene of the crime really fast.

Maybe she had it on repeat?

But yeah, shooting an unarmed man in the back because you think he might have kidnapped a kid is pretty ridiculous. I can't see that being ruled a clean shoot.

I wonder how the west coast ratings were, the game only lasted about three minutes into Chuck. I'm betting Chuck gets the intersect back in two more episodes, at least they have a full season to fight the known bad guy.

Grimm was ok, going dark would help; driving with your head out the window? really?

2011-10-30 03:30:14 AM
I love Fringe. I am pissed it wasn't on when it was supposed to be.

2011-10-30 04:16:09 AM
Grimm would have promise if it were on HBO and called "Fables".

Otherwise, it's just a shiatty NBC show that will be canceled by May.

2011-10-30 04:20:36 AM
I abandoned "Chuck" midway through last season. i just didn't care anymore, which is sad, because Season 2 is one of my favorite seasons of any television show. I'm not saying I won't eventually watch the rest of the episodes (especially if I hear good things about this final season), but meh.

And what ever happened to Fulcrum? Aren't they still a threat to national security ... or something?

kind of this. I agree with the overall decline in quality and that seasons 1-3 had obvious moments were 13-ish episode arc was written and then they had to extend that arc out for another few episodes, but last season was all over the place and didn't really feel like they knew where they were going with any of it. I'm sure Morgan being the intersect will only last 3 episodes tops, but it's kind of an annoying plotline (especially when Chuck Loses the Intersect has been used at least once per season) and I don't really like Morgan's character as a main focus.

Grimm looks like it's trying to be too cute. The previews I saw made it feel like a combination of Castle and Dead Like Me. The music also didn't do much for my senses. All in all, it was just another NBC show that I won't watch because I know it will go a certain direction, and that direction is "quirky".

And I don't like quirky. Usually.

I don't know about Castle, but I definitely didn't get a Dead Like Me vibe form the show.

Gonna watch Grimm on Hulu tonight while I'm waiting for the new Dexter and Walking Dead episodes to hit the web. I know absolutely nothing about this show, haven't seen a single ad, but it being on NBC tells me not to get attached. If its good, NBC will drop it like a hot potato. They have zero balls.

Unlike FX, who have tons of balls, but are unable to stick with a show, no matter how good it is (still so farking pissed they cancelled Terriers, which was AWESOME).

Saw Chuck on Hulu, was kind of surprised. I thought the show was already over, but then it popped up in my que, so I watched it. Very Meh. Bartowski better get the intersect back in the next episode, because I can't stand this Morgan Is The Intersect shiat. And where was Captain Awesome? Did he leave the show?

Feh. I'll keep watching it, just because it has so much goodwill left over from previous seasons. And the blonde chick whose name I can't spell clearly doesn't mind being objectified. But I won't enjoy it.

/Mark Hamill got fat!

2011-10-30 09:02:13 PM
skepticultist: And where was Captain Awesome? Did he leave the show?

He's still in the intro credits, so presumably he's still on the show. He's just not in every episode. This is fairly common in all TV. In Chuck's case, of the main cast members, only Chuck, Sarah, and Casey have been in every episode of the series.

Let me sum up Grimm for you:

iPod, Nike, dead girl,
iPhone, Nike, monsters,
iPhone, Nike, destiny

2011-10-30 10:51:21 PM
Eh, yeah, Chuck has seen better days for sure, but to me it's still worth watching. The characters are so damn likeable, and everything wrong with it is directly the fault of NBC farking with the show's fate from Season 1-5 (Season 5 being the current season.) They're now billing this as the final season, and they've scripted some kind of "everything was a sinister plot from the very beginning" storyline, so it will be really interesting to see if they've figured out a way to tie everything together that won't insult the intelligence.

/my bet is no
//but they're so damn likeable

Except for one thing - Gabriel Knight was good.

/will give Grimm a few eps though, just in case,

Checked out Grimm, but they lost me on crappy CGI. I'll stick with American Horror Story, but not sure how long that will run, doesn't seem like it has a lot of places to go after they finish the house stories, or if the family moves out. But yeah. Grimm was just... no. Couldn't hold my attention, and started playing Sims 3 during it...

I thought Grimm was good too, along with the wife and kids. This means it will probably last about 5 eps before it's cancelled. The actors did not grab me, but they could grow to fill it out more. I will watch and see.
