When my ad agency took on Home Despots bis over a year ago, they had so much shiat in their heads over their expectations as to what could be done on deadlines. Well, lets just say we told them to......

/we tossed the bis after a month and a half don't miss it a bit

Nearly every Canadian knows how to effectively design their Halloween costume to fit under snowpants; I hope New Englanders do as well.

Yeah, thanks for greenlighting this now, mods. It sure is helpful to know that I may experience hail, sleet, and snow after experiencing several hours of hail, sleet, and snow.

I spent a very powerful winter season at Sears as a guy that loads cars. Nobody gives a damn about snow until there are six inches on the ground (that's what she said!). Despite how much warning they get, they don't do anything.

I remember we sold out in three hours. During a major snowfall. The only customer traffic we had for two days was for snowblowers.

/Heard the same rush goes for 4x4 trucks.

Awesome,, SNOW!!!!! Time to sit in the big comfy chair and watch the car crashes....... Errr, I mean the rescue of that ugly lady in her jammies, who thought she really needed to drive 5 blocks, in a blizzard, for her smokes and got stuck in her car for 13 hours.

We've already got a foot here which is absolutely unheard of in October in Connecticut, and it's supposed to keep going all night.

That's amusing as one of my co-workers moved to Maryland from Alaska with her Prius.

I miss east coast snow days...

Half a million people without power in NJ and 425 thousand without power in Connecticut. Fun.

2011-10-29 08:22:41 PM
Got to the grain store just before the storm started. Weathering the rest of it while brewing a pale ale featuring this year's crop of homegrown Cascade hops. Not a bad way to start the winter!

2011-10-29 08:23:47 PM
All we got was rain. I'm too close to the Chesapeake Bay.

It's just been raining and windy all day on Long Island. Seems like the further you are from the relatively warm waters of the Atlantic the more snow you got.

It's days like this I try to remember exactly why I thought moving to the Catskills would be a good idea.. Amazing how quickly the novelty of snow wears off.

If you don't live on the East Coast, this storm will not impact you in the slightest.

Mrs tv_news_guy and I left MA during a blizzard last April. Moved to Phoenix we did. Today we heard about the East Coast Blizzard. We feel real bad. It's 85 and sunny here. If any of you New Englanders who don't have power want to come down and visit you are welcome to. Bring your bathing suits.. the pool is open.

/you don't have to shovel warm
//ac bill during summer here lots cheaper than heating bill during winter there

Still going strong, here in Torrington Connecticut.

Seems the better part of my town is without power. Ours has been fading for a few hours, but still holds on.

There's about a foot in the front yard, there. It's been on the news now that therre's more than 15" in some parts of the area near me.

Wheee, only 5+ more hours :D

If you don't care about business with the east coast, this statement applies.

I went to hd/lowes the other day and they had no snowblowers (in NJ).
It typically doesn't start snowing here until December.
I doubt anyone will do much cleaning, it will melt off pretty quick

More like brought to you by for-profit power companies who couldn't be bothered any given quarter in the last century to update their infrastructure to eliminate outages for the customers they bleed dry every month.

Here in Danbury the sky turned bright green for a minute when some sort of power station exploded nearby. The trees in the woods behind my house are breaking with startling regularity. It sounds like a gunshot followed by a thunderous rumble as the snow comes tumbling down. I already have significant damage to my siding and probably my roof. I still have power for now, which is really awesome, but this storm really sucks otherwise.

And because I'm in Ohio... i miss out on this nor-easter awesomeness. And I'm too far south for the snow belt. I hate it.

casual disregard: More like brought to you by for-profit power companies who couldn't be bothered any given quarter in the last century to update their infrastructure to eliminate outages for the customers they bleed dry every month.

CSB: In 2003 I was working for a large power conglomerate, I was at a conference in Buffalo the day before the massive August 14 blackout. One of the topics was the upgraded infrastructure making a blackout like what happened in 1965 very unlikely to ever happen again. Well they were kind of right Vermont and New Hampshire were fine this time it took out Pennsylvania and Ohio instead.

I traded in yearly blizzards for earthquakes every decade or so. Can't say I'm complaining yet.

Here in S. Nh, already had my power glitch 6 or 7 times in the last 2 hours. Probably taking years off my 50" plasma. Directv is showing no signal so I'm down to the laptop. Bruins are getting their asses kicked by the canadiens, and can only listen on the radio. At least theirs booze in the house, and no ex-wife. PSNH my power company better keep me powered up or I'll be pissed running the generator again.
/Powered by BL limes tonight

Power is also out in southern New Hampshire. It cut out about 2 or 3 hours ago.
